Gbenga Hashim Leads Peace Moves to Reunite North Central PDP, Meets Saraki, Sango
Former presidential candidate and stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, has intensified efforts to reconcile aggrieved members of the party in the North Central region ahead of its next national convention.
Hashim, a prominent advocate of national unity and political reform, met with former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and former Minister of Sports, Hon. Damishi Sango, in what party insiders described as a renewed effort to rebuild trust and strengthen the PDP’s base in the zone.
During a meeting at his Abuja office, Hashim hosted Sango, who was accompanied by Mr. Sam Habu, a close associate of the late Chief Solomon Lar, the founding national chairman of the PDP and former governor of old Plateau State.
“We were both mentees of Chief Solomon Lar, the Emancipator. Our discussion centered on reconciling leaders in Plateau and across the North Central zone,” Hashim said.
Continuing his peace initiative, Hashim also held a closed-door meeting with Dr. Saraki over the weekend. According to him, their discussions focused on rebuilding the PDP’s structures and strengthening its national presence.
“We agreed to work together for the greater interest of Nigeria—to rebuild the PDP in the North Central zone and the nation at large. To God be the glory,” he stated.
Observers believe Hashim’s recent engagements could mark a turning point for the PDP in the North Central region, often regarded as the moral backbone of the party. His outreach to key figures like Saraki and Sango is seen as a move to foster unity and reposition the opposition ahead of future elections.
As the PDP works to reclaim lost ground and reassert its relevance on the national stage, Gbenga Hashim’s reconciliation drive is emerging as a rallying point for party leaders seeking a stronger, more cohesive political front.
