There are a number of road projects being undertaken by the Kogi State Government, but the centrepiece is the Ganaja Flyover being constructed at the heart of lokoja metropolis.

This project is situated within the central core of lokoja town and is being built to alleviate traffic along the busy Ganaja road.

Addressing contractors handling the construction of the flyovers at the sites this afternoon in lokoja metropolitan area, The State Commissioner for works and housing Engr. Dr. Abubakar Ohere FNSE, said he was highly impressed with the level of works on ground, adding that a lot needed to be done in making the project a reality.

According to him, Governor Yahaya Bello administration has placed high priority on the construction of underpass and flyover bridges for Kogi state to take the centre stage of becoming a mega city in addition to reducing gridlocks and unnecessary congestion.

The project was specifically conceived by the Governor Yahaya Bello administration for high-speed vehicular traffic, with all traffic flow
and ingress/egress regulated to ensure commuter safety”, Engr. Dr. Abubakar Ohere explained.

He added that “as you are aware, flyovers have become a vital part of major cities, as a result of rapid urban development.

“Kogi state is an emerging mega city which implies that you have to constantly upgrade and provide new infrastructure like roads, flyovers and underpasses to meet the demands of the teeming population.”

Engr. Ohere pointed out that with the new flyover, commuters would find movement into the major town faster with reduced travel times and leading to less carbon emissions from exhaust fumes in hold-ups along the busy Ganaja road.

We are going to witness an innovative project that will add value to the landscape of the state capital. It will be completed within a time frame Commissioner said.”

Engr. Ohere stressed that His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Bello administration had good intention to transform the state through the execution of various projects, adding that constructing roads, flyovers and underpass bridges was part of fulfilling his campaign promises.

Responding, the Engr. handling the construction under TEC Engineering Company, Mr Ding, assured the state government of the company’s resolve to work hard and complete the projects as scheduled; stressing that, maintaining high quality would remain the priority.
