Vice Chancellor, Federal University Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof. Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole has been honoured for his leadership styles tailored towards rebranding the image of the university.

The award, which was given as part of the 10th National Leadership, Integrity, and Development Summit organised by Centre for Ethical Conduct Orientation and Empowerment (CECOE) to mark Nigeria at 66 was in recognition of Prof. Ogunwole’s initiative to give FUOYE a new name for Africa’s future.

The Executive Director of the Centre, Dr. Owah David disclosed that Prof. Ogunwole did not know when the CECOE began to investigate and evaluate his leadership styles since he took over the rein of leadership in the University.

“What we discovered was that Prof. Ogunwole really meant well for the institution, hence his commitment to fighting many tendencies capable of denting and destroying the image of the university”, he said.

According to him, “When we have leaders like Prof. Ogunwole who are committed to sanitising the system, by fighting indiscipline, corruption, and other social vices, they should be celebrated, hence, the award of excellence in leadership we are giving him today”

Dr. David emphasized that “FUOYE is a fast- growing university with over 60, 000 student population, such a university needs a strong and patriotic leader like Prof. Ogunwole to continue to grow because growing at such a rate has its own challenges.
