Efforts made by spirited individuals for the Aguma of Bassa, HRH William Keke and the Ohiogba of Mozum, HRH Khalid Bukar Ali to get unconditional bail might have hit the rocks as fresh fighting and killings erupts in Udogbo a Bassa Kwomu community this morning.
Our correspondent reported that the people of Udogbo town in Bassa Local Government Area were woken up this morning by sounds of heavy guns leading to the people of the area scampering for safety.
An eye witness account said the Identity of the gunmen was not certain but that the accosted Bassa Kwomus who were running away for safety pointed accusing fingers to the Igburras from Mozum whom the described as their long time enemies.
Two persons were said to have been killed while many shops owned by the indigenes of the area and the Ibos were set ablaze by the invading hoodlums.
It will be recalled that both the Ohiogba of Mozum and the Aguma of Bassa have remained under house arrest for over one week in a facility in Lokoja.
Our reporter learnt reliably that efforts were already been mounted by concerned indigenes of the area to effect their release.
The renewed fighting leading to the killing of two people and burning of houses at Udogbo might stall their bail from security agents.
Speaking with Thenigerianpost, an officer of the DSS who confirmed the renewed outbreak this morning, said the efforts to secure there bail was not possible today.
He however said the matter was mentioned at the court, would by Thursday initiate the process of bail for the accused persons.
Recall that following incessant breakdown of law and order in Bassa LGA, the State Governor order for the arrest of two first class chief and some top notch politicians for failure to stem the tide of the crisis in the area.
The DSS got an order of the court to therefore detain the accused persons which subsist for 21 days pending outcome of investigation.
All efforts to reach the Kogi State Police Command for the update on security has been difficult as the PPRO SP Williams Ayah could not on his phone lines
