Founder Star Ladies Widows Foundation Inaugurate Kogi Chapter, Charged Widows To Be United In Prayers, Hardwork
The Kogi State Chapter of the Star Ladies Widows Foundation and Star Lady United Business Women Association has been inaugurated, with a call on Widows to be United in their resilience and hardwork towards fighting a common cause.
Inaugurating the State Chapter in Lokoja, the Founder, and President Star Ladies Widows Foundation, Amb. Dr. Nkiruka Duru, urged the women not to see their challenge as a death sentence, urged them to be champions in hardwork, pointing out that with prayers they will overcome all obstacles.
The Founder described the plight of widowhood as one that can be challenging, urged them to overcome societal neglect, take life with the seriousness it deserves, pointing out that widowhood is not a death sentence.
The Founder said when united and supported, it becomes easier for Widows to find their footing, urged them to focus on what they can do for themselves, as against waiting for palliatives that comes once a while.
She described the strength of widow’s as one obtained from hardwork, married to their children’s future, said she is in the State to give power to the widow’s using the Foundation.
She urged widows to take up trades, be skilled in craft and other needs of the society, said manner will not fall from heaven for people who are not having work on their hands.
The Founder praised the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo for his love and concern for widow’s, said his quest to wipe away tears from the faces of widow’s in the State remains unprecedented.
She further praised Gov. Ododo for bringing succour and relief to the homes of widow’s , lauded his wife Hajia Sefinat Ododo for her kindness and humanitarian efforts.
In her remarks at the occasion which drew women from the 21 LGAs of the State, the Kogi State Coordinator, Mrs. Janet Kaka Edah, said the foundation stands as an umbrella for Widows across the State.
She described the pain and loss of, coupled with societal neglect can be overwhelming, said their hope as widow’s is anchored on God.
While pointing out that a tree cannot make it forest, reason why the Foundation offers widow’s the platform to share their stories, encourage one another, pray together, exchange ideas and grow stronger as one body.
Similarly, Maryam Ataboh, Vice President, Star Lady United Women Business of Nigeria and Diaspora, said UBWA has come to stay in the State, urged Widows to work together and know that God is the husband of the Widows, urged them to take to farming.
In their separate remarks, Eunice Abimbola Agbogun, Executive Director, Challenge Parenthood Initiative and Roseline Alabi, Executive Director Dual Care Initiative, charged widow to rise to the occasion in prayers on their knees, assuring that with hardwork and perseverance, they will overcome widowhood challenges.
Other speakers at the occasion include Chief Ambassador Nkiru Rosemary,
Salamatu Abba Jibrin and Zainab Ibrahim, Director. Genda Base Violence, Kogi State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development. The Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Gambo Kabir IV was represented at the occasion.
Highlights of the Inauguration was the Inauguration of the State Coordinator and other executive members to pilot the affairs of the foundation in the State.
