Nigerians have been asked to make inter cultural marriage a way of strengthening the bond of the nation’s unity.
The former Deputy Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Aliyu Akuh, gave the charge at the sidelines of the wedding reception after giving out his daughter, former Miss Mary Akuh to Mr. Elijah Femi Emmanuel.
While pointing out that what Nigerians should strive towards in the life of the nation now more than ever before is unity in diversity, encouraged intercultural marriage as a way of building peace, unity and togetherness, pointing out that it remains a veritable ingredients needed for nation building.
Hon. Akuh described the marriage that is intercultural between Mary who hails from Omala and Femi from Ijumu local government area of the state as an opportunity to build bridges of unity in the State, described the purpose of intermarriage as bringing people closer together, wished the newly wedded couple a blissful marriage life.
The father of the bride described the day as one that is full of joy for him and members of his family, described the coming together of the couple as a climax for him as a father, urged the couple to always meditate on the words of God for a better union.
The brides father urged the couple to be prayerful assuring that with prayers, tolerance and patience, couples would always surmount the challenges of marriage.
Earlier in an opening remarks at the wedding reception, the Chairman of the occasion, Surveyor Abolarin tasked the couple on patience and love, described marriage as divinely ordained.
Earlier, a church service to solemnize the union between Mary Mamma Aliyu Akuh’s to her heartthrob Femi had held at ECWA Good news Church Lokoja.
The wedding ceremony drew dignitaries from all works of life, with past and serving lawmakers, politicians in attendance.
