FLOOD ALERT: SEMA RE-TRAINS ITS STAFF
Under the leadership of the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) continues to enhance effective disaster management knowledge and skills through training and re-training of it’s staff on capacity building.
This training is in line with the Agency’s vision to build more awareness on preparedness, response and mitigation plans ahead of impending flood.
The training exercise focused on “Coordination and Networking in Emergencies, Data Collection in the Field and Camp Management” especially during flood. The training programme was conducted in collaboration with Nigerian Red Cross Society. The resource person, the Acting Branch Secretary, Mr. Abubakar Abdullahi, facilitated the training effectively.
In response, the Head of Admin Department of the Agency, Hajia Raliat Lami Idakwoji, on behalf of the staff expressed her profound gratitude to the Executive Secretary SEMA for the timely initiative. She stressed further that the impact of the training is enormous and would strengthen the staff performances when deployed to the field during the impending 2024 flood disaster. She equally appreciated the facilitator from Nigeria Red Cross for his quality delivery.
The Executive Secretary SEMA, Alhaji Mouktar Atimah during his address, emphasized that training and re-training of SEMA’S staff are critical components in enhancing the knowledge and skills needed for effective disaster management.
The Executive Secretary SEMA used the medium to express his deep appreciation for the existing collaboration with Nigerian Red Cross Society. He further urged all the beneficiaries of the Capacity building training to use the knowledge and skills acquired to discharge their assigned duties effectively and efficiently.
