FGGC Kabba Rolls Out Silver Jubilee Programme


 

Federal Government Girls College, Kabba, one of the few solid investments by the Nigerian state in Okunland, is 25 years old and the authorities have rolled out an elaborate programme to commemorate the landmark.

The activities include the institution’s 19th annual speech/prize giving day ceremony; launch of fund raising of the college endowment; launch of the college magazine/year book and the Fund for Girl Child Education.

Top personalities from Okunland and beyond have been listed as key role players at the event scheduled to hold in the institution’s Multipurpose Hall on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 11:00 am.

Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello is expected to be the Chief Guest of Honour at the event while the Minister of State for Education, Hon Chukwuemeka Nwajuba, Engr. Olushola G. Rotimi and Major General JOS Oshanupin (rtd) will be the Most Distinguished Guest, Chairman and Special Guest of Honour respectively.

The Royal Fathers of the day are, the Obaro of Kabba, Oba Solomon Dele Owoniyi; the Olujumu of Ijumu, Oba Williams Olusegun Ayeni and the Agbana of Isanlu, Oba Moses Babatunde Etombi.

The wife of the Governor of Kogi State, Mrs. Rashida Bello will be the Mother of the Day while former Executive Director of First Bank Plc, Mr. Ola Oyelola and the Member representing Kabba/Bunu Ijumu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon Teejay Yusuf are expected to be the chief launcher and associate launcher respectively.

The Director, Basic/Secondary Education, Federal Ministry of Education, Mrs. Binta Tijjani Abdulkadir will serve as the chief host with the Kogi State Commissioner for Women Affairs, Mrs. Fatima Kabir Buba and her counterpart in the Ministry of Education, Mr. Wemi Jones scheduled to take up the roles of Guest Speaker and Host Commissioner respectively.

The Principal of the College, Mrs. Bolanle Jaiyeola, said in a statement that the event was intended to commemorate 25 years of value addition by the institution to the life of the girl child in the state.

She said the staff, students as well as parents of past and present students of the school were proud to note that the products of the college were already proving their mettle in various segments of national life.

Mrs. Jaiyeola urged the people of the state to turn out en masse at the event and support the current efforts to reposition the school to enable it offer greater service to the state.
