FG Set To Establish National cashew production and research institute At Idah.


 

The Senator Representing Kogi East, Alhaji Jibrin Isah Echocho says he is currently sponsoring bill for the establishment of National Cashew and Research Institute at Idah.

Sen. Jibrin Isah Echocho announced this at a Stakeholders meeting of the All Progressives Congress at Idah.

He said the measure is to enhance the abundant cashew in Igala land thereby boosting it’s production for export.

The Sen. also promised to construct modern lecture theatre at the Federal Polytechnic Idah.

He said the Construction Ceramic manufacturing company in Idah which has been captured in the 2023 Budget will be pursued with vigour if given the mandate for a second term.

According to him, Aquaculture Project of the Federal Government which began at Idah before he assumed office has not been completed due to poor funding.

The Sen. explained that upon inquiry, he realised that the ministry of science and technology where the project is domicile has a relatively low budget.

He however promised to use some part of his constituency allowance to ensure its completion.

While thanking the people of Idah Local Government for their support so far, the Senator emphasized the need for their continued support.

The Senator said during his stewardship, a lot have been done for the area including distribution of 10,000 copies of exercise books, provisions of solar powered boholes, Training and empowering of youth and women in agriculture with start up capital.

Others he noted include provision of agricultural equipment including a tractor to encourage mechanised farming to boost the revenue of the Local Government.
