Federal High Court Lokoja Defers Judgment on Stay of PDP Kogi Chair Gambo’s Execution
Justice Isah A. Danshan of the Federal High Court Lokoja, has adjourned indefinitely for judgment a request for stay of execution on the judgement that declared Hon. Muhammed Sanni Gambo as the Kogi State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party till 2026.
Justice Danshan gave the adjournment after the hearing notice brought before it by Enemona Anyebe.
Recalled that the Federal High Court Lokoja in its judgement had affirmed Hon. Muhammed Sani Gambo as Kogi PDP Chairman, ordered his immediate swearing in, recognition by PDP NWC, other concerned authorities.
Delivering the consequential judgement, Justice Danshan, declared Hon. Mohammed Sanni Gambo as the duly Elected Chairman of Kogi State PDP.
The Judge in the judgment ordered all the necessary security agencies to ensure the immediate swearing in of the Chairman, compelled the National leadership of the PDP, other concerned authorities to recognize Hon. Gambo as the duly elected Chairman of Kogi PDP.
Recalled that Hon. Gambo finished second in the last August 31st, 2024 Congress of the PDP, the court held that he pulled the majority valid votes.
Recalled also that Enemona Anyebe had earlier been barred from contesting in the Congress by an order of the Court, for which the court upheld, described his participation in the Congress as null and void.
The Judge in his ruling on 10/11/2025, said following the fact from the INEC results sheets, the PDP having maintained it zoning arrangement, declared Hon. Gambo as the Kogi State PDP Chairman having pulled the majority of valid votes.
Following the judgement, Hon. Muhammed was sworn in same day as the Kogi State People’s Democratic Party Chairman by a Notre public as contained in the PDP constitution.
At the resume hearing today, the plaintiff counsel Barr. Alewo, adduced grounds for requesting the stay the stay but was countered by the Counsel to the defendant, Barr. Emeje Aruwa, who asked the court to discountenance the request as it was academic in nature following a landmark ruling.
The judge after listening to the argument of parties, asked if there was any specific adduced reasons for seeking the stay rather than pursuing an appeal in a higher court, however adjourned till 2026 with no date for judgment.
