To amplify the huge significance of fasting in Islam, Al-Quran as the main source of Islamic teachings highlighted it thirteen times while amplifying it as a recipe and on of the preconditions for developing “God-consciousness” (Quran 2:183).
As one of the five pillars of Islam, it is indisputably an act of worship, an opportunity to get closer to Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala, a way to become more compassionate to those in need and many more. These must not be lost on us.
To this end, It is my sincere prayer, for which I am overwhelming confident, that from your prayers and sacrifices, God shall listen to our individual cries as well as address the agonies of our nation with mercy.
Ahead of Ramadan, we begged forgiveness from those we offended/wronged deliberately or inadvertently and forgave those who offended/wronged us; it is therefore safe to surmise that the land has been purified by this act of obedience sobriety. I believe the purity, piety and the ensuing sacrifices will heal us and our nation eventually while ultimately attracting myriad rewards from God.
