The recent rejoinder authored under the pseudonym Bola Oloruntobi, and the unsolicited “Truth Over Propaganda” piece by Ponle Adeniyi, are both products of panic, not principle. They are figments of the imagination of their authors and sponsors, scripted to distract Kogi West from a simple fact: the people have already decided.
Senator Sunday Steve Karimi did not just win the Kogi West APC Senatorial District primary. He won it clean, clear, and with a landslide margin that has become a record in our political history.
For those who know Senator Karimi, courage is his default setting. He built his name in the trenches of legislative service, not through ghostwritten articles and backdoor conspiracies. He will not hide behind a finger to sponsor media attacks against anyone. The guilty are always pricked by their conscience, and that explains the anxiety in the camp of those now scrambling to rewrite what happened on primary day.
Let the records speak. Senator Karimi’s political trajectory is not in doubt. He started in the House of Representatives, winning on a relatively unknown party platform, a feat that proved his acceptance was rooted in the people, not party machinery. He later moved to the PDP and won a second term, again on the strength of performance and grassroots trust. That history tells you everything. He is not a creation of any political moment. He is a product of consistent representation.
In the current Senate, Senator Karimi has made his mark through effective representation. From legislative interventions to constituency projects, from youth empowerment to infrastructure advocacy, his voice in the Red Chamber has been loud, clear, and in defense of Kogi West interests. It is this record of delivery that made APC members in Kogi West return him overwhelmingly during the primary. No Senator who has ever served from Kogi West can match that record, and that is why he will enjoy a seamless return in any election in Kogi West.
The Kogi West APC Senatorial District primary was monitored by observers and INEC. Results are already in the public domain, awaiting only official announcement. That process remains sacrosanct. One therefore wonders why anyone would claim Senator Karimi is blaming Hon. Leke Abejide, the Governor, or the Chief of Staff to the President. For a man who already has his victorious results, it is illogical to express worries over an election that has been adjudged free, fair, and transparent by all standards.
It is therefore intellectually dishonest and politically lazy for anyone seeking to distract the people of Kogi West to advance such mundane arguments. The people of Kogi West APC voted. INEC observed. Observers documented. The outcome reflects the will of Kogi West, not the imagination of forgers and detractors.
It is unfortunate that those scared of Senator Karimi’s popularity and relevance in National politics have chosen the path of falsehood. They know that, with the will of the people and by the grace of God, the All Progressives Congress will win the general election by a landslide. So they have resorted to smear campaigns and pity games, hoping propaganda can achieve what the ballot box could not.
Let it be stated for the umpteenth time: Senator Sunday Karimi’s mandate is sealed and untouchable, regardless of any backdoor or undemocratic plots. No amount of sponsored write-ups can smuggle in a forged result or manufacture a crisis where none exists. The shame belongs to those who attempted it in the first place. While we leave them to their conscience, their sins against the people of Kogi West will continue to haunt them perpetually.
Kogi West has spoken. The people know the difference between genuine leadership and politically motivated falsehoods. While others trade in insinuations, Senator Karimi trades in results. While others manufacture enemies, he continues to serve. And as the dust settles, one fact remains undeniable: truth is stronger than propaganda, and history will separate facts from fiction.
Senator Sunday Karimi’s mandate is not up for debate in the court of public opinion or in the imagination of mischief makers. It was won at the polls, validated by observers, and sealed by the trust of Kogi West. Let no one attempt to steal what the people have freely given.
