The harmony existing between the Executives in Kogi State and the House of Assembly has been commended, asked to be encouraged, sustained, as it has been described as the panacea to providing the needed gains of democracy to the people.
Hon. Oniwaye Olusegun John Ogede1, Senior Special Assistant on Special Duties to the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, made the disclosure against the backdrop of what he described as the thinking of some persons who expect the State Lawmakers to be engaging in fight match with the Executives.
The SSA described as a wrong notion for the lawmakers to be perceived as rubber stamps, described the lawmakers as very patriotic in disposition towards ensuring that the State makes qantum leap in development.
Hon. Oniwaye Olusegun John Ogede1 commended the Leadership of the Kogi State House of Assembly, led by Rt. Hon. Mathew kolawole for holding forth the banner of peace and in ensuring that laws that have direct bearings on the lives of the people are speedily passed.
The Aide to the Speaker in a chat with Thenigerianpost, pointed out that never in history has a state or Country made gains and progress in a democracy when the Executives and the Legislators are engaged in friction, urged the people to have a change in mindset, appreciate the Executive Legislative relationship by praising and praying for the State to remain in peace.
Hon. John described the cordial relationship existing between the two arms of Government as reasons for the speedy passage of the state’s budget, appointments, bills that have led to the Establishment of the Confluence University of Science and Technology Osara, and the ongoing infrastructure in the areas of roads, health and other unprecedented development the state is presently witnessing.
Hon. Oniwaye Olusegun John Ogede1 praised Rt Hon. Mathew Kolawole for his servant leadership qualities that has helped in uniting the Assembly members towards maintaining a cordial relationship with the Executives, urged the Speaker and the other lawmakers not to be dampened in morale by the negative thinking of few persons, assured that history would write and speak positive about them.
The SSA Special Duties, urged the people of the State to continue to pray for the unity of the State, pointing out that no state or Country ever achieved meaningful developement in the midst of rancour, described the leadership of the present Assembly as the best in the state’s history.
While pointing out that majority of people of the State appreciates what the Lawmakers have done in moving forward the State, urged them to continue to work in harmony with the Executives, said posterity notes with high regards, the immeasureable contributions of the Kogi State Lawmakers.
