An appeal for help has been made for assistance for people with disabilities who are the worst affected by the 2022 flooding in Kogi State in the nine affected LGAs.
The Executive Secretary, Kogi State Office For Disability Affairs, Barr Zacchaeus Dare Michael, made the appeal in a statement, said PWDs had there homes and properties washed away and destroyed in nine LGAs of the State.
The Executive Secretary called on public spirited individuals, religious organizations, financial institutions and donor agencies to come to the aid of PWDs in the State who he disclosed were the worst hit by reason of there disability.
For now the Executive Secretary disclosed that the PWDs are living in difficult circumstances in open camps with there families, explaining that they are most affected as they are unable to do what others not challenged could have done in the circumstances.
Barr. Dare particularly called on development partners particularly TY Danjuma Foundation, Sight Savers, MTN foundation, all the banks in the State and other corporate organizations, government to come to the aid of PWDs in the State, pointing out that allowing them to sleep in open spaces would have negative impact on there condition.
