The immediate past Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly Prince Mathew Kolawole has empowered over 250 widows in Kabba Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency.
This is as Prince Kolawole also kick-started a students Empowerment scheme to enable students from the Federal Constituency get financial succour while in school.
Prince Kolawole also assured that his N10,000 monthly support to women of the Federal Constituency already ongoing will be sustained, paid glowing tributes to Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo for the support he has given him through good governance in the State.
The empowerment program which took place in Kabba, was part of activities to mark his 60th birthday anniversary, his sustained love for windows after the demise of his late wife.
The Prince Mathew Kolawole Widows Empowerment Program, is an annual event, usually bring women from Kabba Bunu Ijumu Federal Constituency together.
The former Speaker urged the people of Kabba Bunu Ijumu Federal Constituency, particularly women and youths to sustain their support for the administration of Gov. Ododo, pointing out that the administration has placed them as top priority in the area of education and empowerment.
” I’m an APC member. The administration of Gov. Ododo has done well. I’m optimistic he will get a second term by virtue of his good works. I urge all people of the Federal Constituency to show support for the administration”.
The former Speaker said widowhood should not be seen as the end of life, expressed gratitude to the women for their resilience and perseverance, pointing out that when there is life, there is hope.
In their separate remarks, the beneficiaries lauded the immeasurable contributions of Prince Kolawole towards providing succour for widows in the community.
In the words of Aminat Musa, lauded the support as one that would go a long way in assisting her children
Similarly, Aiyenibe Alice Dada, described the annual Prince Kolawole support as one that has cushions the challenge faced by widow’s, prayed God to bless him.
Johnson Josephine, said the support will help in improving her petty business, urged others in emulate the gesture of the former Speaker.
Items distributed and given to the widow’s include cash support of N10,000, N20,000, wrappers, rice and Garri, amongst other support items to help the women in sustaining their family and livelihood.
