Establishment of “North Central Corridors” Panacea to The Farmers Headers Clashes in Nigeria- Comrade, Retson Tedheke

The Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Nigerians Farmers Group and Cooperative Society(NFGCS), Comrade Retson Tedheke has advocated for the establishment of the “North Central Corridors ” a scheme which according to him would served as a Panacea to the lingering Farmers/Headers Clashes which has posed great threat to the nation’s drive for national intergration.
Comrade Retson disclosed this at the inauguration of PROJECT SPARROW with the theme: Catalyzing innovation in Agriculture for wealth creation”, Organized by Loftyinc Allied Partners Limited, recently.
He butressed further that, the North Central Corridors”, would serve as a farm house for the headers and their lives stock migrating from the north during heat in search of pastures, there by reducing the likelihood of clashes with famers in the south and also saving the livestock and hearders from attacks.

According to him, the proposed Ruga, Ranching and the National livestock transformation program (NLTP), in the office of the Vice president, were all programs geared towards finding a workable solution to the Farmers/headers Clashes, not an enslavement, exploitative or dominative scheming as misperceived by some Nigerians, rather a workable solution to the challenges that  is shaking the foundation of our harmonious Coexistence and unity as a nation, adding that cow as the cheapest source of protein in the world, and with the over two hundred millions,Nigeria’s population, livestock farming must be integration in to the process of our national Development and planning for the interest of the nigerian populace,he stressed.
“We must accept the fact and apply the workable solution,if not even if we shout they are killing people everywhere-oooo the narrative will not change”.he query that the cowboy industry in the United States of America  which is equivalent to our own headsmem in Nigeria,generates over three hundred million dollars for them annually,what stops Nigeria from generating ten million dollars if properly intergrated.

Comrade Retson Tedheke who was also one of the discussant at the interactive session during the inaugural event, also called on the government to provide the basic amenities needed in the rural areas, since most agricultural activities are carried out in the rural areas where over 70% of Nigerians resides.
He faulted a situation where the funding of agriculture was left in the hands of commercial banks, whose sole aim is to make huge profit at the expense of the Farmers,he opined that  government should fund agriculture directly,to make Nigerian Farmers  compete favourable with their counterpart both within and outside Nigeria. … Continue reading
