Enough of Illegality, impunity in Kogi PDP, Let Justice prevail – Hon. Mohammed Sanni Gambo

Enough of Illegality, impunity in Kogi PDP, Let Justice prevail – Hon. Mohammed Sanni Gambo

The Judiciary in Nigeria, the National Working Committee of the People’s Democratic Party, and citizens of Nigeria, have been called upon to halt what Hon. Mohammed Sanni Gambo describes as illegality and impunity walking naked in the Kogi State PDP.

Hon. Mohammed Sanni Gambo disclosed that by the Court order and Judgment delivered prior to and after the August 31st, 2024 Kogi State PDP Congress, he remains the duly elected Chairman of Kogi PDP.

Hon. Gambo disclosed that a court order barred Enemona Anyebe from participating in the State Congress. He added that a High sitting in Lokoja also
declared the participation of Enemona Anyebe as null, illegal, ordered for his arrest for contempt.

He however lamented that with the order and Judgment that are all in public domain, not vacated, appealed against or set aside, a statement was still issued on behalf of Enemona as Chairman, today, 11th May, 2025, where he was still parading himself as Chairman of the State PDP.

“The congress of 31st August 2024 was free and fair. I was the eligible contestant in that election with the highest votes. I was duly elected because as at 31st August 2024, Enemona was not a contestant as he was not qualified to be part of the election. I’m the winner of the Election.

“This disobedience of contempt proceedings by Enemona Anyebe, still parading himself as Chairman Kogi PDP is illegal, brazen heights of impunity, that cannot stand”.

“Prior to the State Congress of our Party held on the 31st August, 2024. A Kogi State High Court issued an order on 31st July, 2024, suit no HC/OKP/54/2024 where Enemona Anyebe and respondents 1-7 were bound to obey”, that order was never set aside, as he was barred from contesting the PDP State Congress.

” The order barred Enemona Anyebe from purchase of PDP Chairmanship nomination form, presenting himself from being screened and to participate in the State Congress. This order”.

” The Court order was not appealed and vacated. Enemona presented himself for the election, a clear case of brazen disobedience of subsisting orders of the honourable court.

” Also on 18th February, 2025, Justice Yahaya Adamu of the Kogi State High Court further delivered another judgement where he declared as follows: “The 7th respondents, Enemona Anyebe’s participation in the PDP State Congress of 31/08/2024 is illegal, null and void and hence his purported declaration by PDP as elected official is null and void”, ordered for his arrest.

“The PDP is a Party built on justice and the rule of law. There cannot not be PDP without Nigeria where there is a supreme constitution. Let the constitution take it rightful place. Let justice prevail. We can no longer permit this illegality, allowing Enemona to access the PDP Secretariate through the backdoor”.

“Enemona Anyebe’s action amounts to gross violation of contempt proceedings allowing him to still parade himself as the Chairman of Kogi State PDP is a charade”.

” In the 31st August, 2024 PDP State Congress, I, Hon. Muhammad Sani Gambo won as the only rightful participant with the highest votes scored, as Enemona Anyebe was not qualified to contest as contained in the High Court Judgment.

“I, therefore use this medium to appeal to National Leaders of our Party, the NWC, the Judiciary to allow Justice prevail by swearing me in as the duly elected Chairman of the State PDP”.

“Let me add that failure to ensure that the contempt proceeding is obeyed, and if action is not taken against the purported Chairman, may lead to breakdown of law and order”.

“The issue of contempt is criminal, an outright violation of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.

“I, therefore make bold to State that no one, no matter how highly place, should be above the law. Except the PDP, the Judiciary act swiftly, it will render every action taken thus far by the State PDP, null and void and may lead to an addition to the myriad of insecurity bedeviling our country in the coming days”.

“I’m therefore appealing for Justice from our Party.
Let me at this point emphasis that having emerged runner up in the said Congress, I’m the duly elected Chairman of the Kogi State PDP and should be sworn in immediately. Enemona should stop parading himself”.

Hon. Mohammed Sanni Gambo made the appeal in a chat with Newsmen, said illegality should no longer be allowed, asked to be inaugurated.

“I desire Justice”, called on the National Working Committee of the PDP to ensure that justice prevails.

“There is a Nigerian constitution before political party had there constitution. I therefore called on the court and the DSS to take notice of the brazen disregard of the judgment delivered on contempt regarding the Kogi PDP and to act swiftly on the Kogi matter. This is because when people go unpunished for their disobedience to judgment, it emboldens them to break the law, knowing fully well that there is no penalty that will be fall them. I therefore call on the Judiciary to use the Kogi case as an example so as to serve as deterrent to others that disobedience to court judgment is the most serious offense that should not be swept under the carpet” particularly that judgement has been delivered.
