
EKITI COUNCIL POLL 2026; IREDE APC LEADERS HAILS GOVERNOR OYIBANJI ON CONSENSUS CANDIDATE.

In Ipoti Ekiti, the headquarters of the Irede Local Government Development Area, a consensus committee convened to receive reports from the three wards and the LCDA.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Irede Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Ekiti State has expressed joy and thanked the Governor His Excellency Biodun Oyibanji and the state Party leaders for introducing consensus ahead of the forthcoming Local Council elections in the state.
During a stakeholder meeting in Ipoti Ekiti, the headquarters of the Irede Local Government Development Area, which was well attended and had the presence of the LCDA Chairman, Hon. Ayo Awe, Commissioners, party leaders in the Council including Yinka Adumati, Hon. Akande, Chief Esan, Supo Ajayi and many others, the Consensus Committee members set up by the Governor, Security Agents, media and other observer groups were also present.
The peaceful meeting saw Mr. Asekun Sunday, popularly known as Papa, emerged as the consensus candidate for the chairmanship of Irede Local Government in line with the zoning formula unanimously agreed and adopted in the Area Council that favoured Ward B in Ipoti as directed by the party leadership at state level.
The chairman of the Consensus committee, who also serves as a commissioner, congratulated the candidate and commended the APC leadership in the Area Council and in Ward B in particular for their exemplary work, peaceful disposition and expressed his endorsement of their decisions.
The leadership of the APC in Irede Local Government Development Area expressed gratitude to the leadership of the party and the state Governor, His Excellency, Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji – BAO, for this great initiative of consensus candidate, an idea that has fostered peace and recognition of leadership and political processes within the Irede community.
The spokesperson of Irede Local Council Development Area (LCDA) remarked that “This event marks a significant achievement for the BAO-led government and underscores the seriousness of BAO’s intentions. It is evident that the party is re-establishing its leadership in the State.
