EFCC Chairman: Former lawmaker, Hon. Karimi Describes Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa’s Choice As Excellent.


The choice of Mr Abdulrasheed Bawa as the  new Economic and Financial Crime Commission Chairman has been described as an Excellent choice needed to fight Economic and Financial crimes in the country within the ambit of the law.

A two term Member of the National Assembly, Hon. Sunday Karimi, made the disclosure in a chat with newsmen, described the 40-year-old Bawa as a trained EFCC investigator whose vast experience in the investigation and prosecution of Advance Fee Fraud cases, official corruption, bank fraud, money laundering, and other economic crimes would be brought to bear in the Commission.

According to Hon. Karimi, ” My deep knowledge of the workings of the  outfit in the last decade justifies the choice of Mr. Bawa and  provides him the opportunity to bring in his insider with excellent intellectual abilities to bear.

The former lawmaker who served in the House of Representatives from 2012 – 2019, added too that the new EFCC Chairman has a youthful vigor required of the office, said his coming on board is a total shift from the Police lock up, charge and bail attitudes to one of transformation into  real professionalism in financial crimes investigation as it is witnessed in other civilzed clime.

Hon. Karimi lamented contrary misgivings in recent attempts to run down Mr Bawa at all cost, pointing out that it is uncalled for, particularly that Mr. Bawa is one among the few trusted hands in the organization that is incorruptible, approaches his schedules with humility as a very sound anti corruption czer.

The former lawmaker solicited the support of all Nigerians, working with Mr. Bawa in the onerous task to surely reposition EFCC as a top intelligent outfit, said his choice present the opportunity for those that were trained by the organization to lead the service.

The former lawmaker concluded by saying,  that having undergone several specialised trainings in different parts of the world and was one of the pioneer EFCC Cadet Officers in 2005, makes his choice as apt, should be supported to Excell in fighting economic and financial crimes.

Bawa holds a B.Sc degree in Economics, and a Masters in International Affairs and Diplomacy.
