Education is Witnessing Glorious Era Under Gov. Bello, Hon. Wemi Jones Assures.


 

Says Jail term awaits offenders of Examination malpractices, unveils Education Law 2020.

The Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon Wemi Jones has assured of a glorious era for the education sector in the State under Gov. Yahaya Bello.

Hon. Wemi Jones gave the assurances at a stakeholders meeting while unveiyl the Kogi State Education Law 2020, said the promise, which has been matched with action by Gov. Bello to allocate 20% of the State annual budget to Education will no doubt transform the sector.

He noted that the Governor’s promise which is reflected in the 2021 budget which for the first time saw education receiving 20% of the State’s budget is an indication that for the next four years, Kogi’s education sector would be an envy.

He urged all the stakeholders in the Sector to join hands with the State Government in the realization of the dreams of having a sustained development in the education sector, warned against complecency in the part of those in charge of education at all levels.

Hon. Jones called on operators in the education sector to seek new ways of instilling discipline on students, said with the new education law, the law frowns at sending students and pupils back home for coming late.

The Commissioner warned seriously that the Education law 2020 will deal decisively with examination malpractices, said severe punishment, leading to jail terms is stipulated for offenders.

He described section 50 of the education law as one that would check malpractices in the State, said under the law, a misconduct and disciplinary committee has been established to ensure compliance.

He described Examination malpractices as a serious offense under the new law, said offenders would be dragged to court, and if found guilty, risk jail terms.

The Commissioner commended the Commitment of Gov Yahaya Bello to improving the education system, lauded his efforts in building GYB model schools across the state.

 

Highlights of the stakeholders meeting was the official unveiling of the Kogi State Education Law 2020.
