
Edo State University Iyamho To Digitalize All Operations…. Says VC

The newly appointed Vice Chancellor of Edo State University Iyamho, Prof Victor Olawale Adetimirin has stated that he is committed to the transformation of the university through functional education that is capable of impacting knowledge in the entire region of Edo State and Nigeria technologically.
He promised to go digital in all operations in the university as this will ensure transparency and make it impossible to manipulate student information systems like the admission, their timetable, results and their clinical records and also knowing how the university’s budget is being managed with data based.
Prof. Adetimirin stated this during his maiden press briefing at the Edo State University, Iyamho.
He opined that the intention is to ensure the university is one of the best in Nigeria and attain international recognition through research and infrastructural development.
While promising to work hard with the management to make the university to be the number one in Nigeria first and while also making its way to attaining continental recognition, to achieve these, he will drive-up the revenue of the university, diversified and ramp it up because without resources these recognitions can not be achieved.
The new VC promised to pursue a circular economy which in respect of the infrastructures in the university in making sure that Edo State University Iyamho in terms of physical environment is the best in Africa and one of the best in the world.
He further stated that he will engage in recircle, reuse and regenerate and to ensure that the campus is sustainable in every aspect as sustainability will address the United Nations sustainable development goals while also pursue things that will make the university to be rank as one of the most sustainable campuses globally.
According to him, “the part-way to do this, is to ensure that there are academic programs that are excellent in context and rigor that engage world class, first class research capable of leading to transformation of the university as that is one of the important ways to ensure globally relevant”.
To do that, there is need to improve on the infrastructures for teaching, learning and to encourage and provide the environment for staff to publish the results of their research, journals that are read and recognized globally as that is one of the ways in which institutions are ranked.
“Digitalization helps to almost completely eliminate corruption and wastages in terms of collections of fees and other charges and also the disbursement and reduces paper theory”, he emphasized.
While soliciting for staff and students support, however promised to improve on their welfare saying he is ready to do anything that would make them happy, improve their mental health, provide life support for them in terms of their studies and scholarship.
Adding that teachers/lecturers who wants to publish a world class journal and cannot afford it and once they are doing that, they are also helping the university which in turn making them healthy and be of good staff as well as taking care of their families.
Prof Adetimirin thanked the state governor Sen Monday Okpevbolo for finding him worthy of the appointment as the substantive vice chancellor of one of the fast growing universities in Nigeria, Edo State University Iyamho, however commended the state government for putting up these fantastic facilities in the university in a very short time.
