The Department of Petroleum Resources, (DPR), Benin field office has warned petroleum products marketers in Edo , not to get involve in sharp Malpractices as the office will not tolerate such activities.
The warning came up on Tuesday in Benin City, when the Controller, DPR, Benin Office, Engineer Ebi Ogiowo, went on inspection tour of Petrol Filling Stations in Edo State.
There have been condemnation of fuel hike and other Malpractices by motorists in the country for the past two weeks.
Engineer Ebi Ogiowo, said, “based on the directives of the Director, CEO in Abuja that all filling stations in the country should ensure that fuel is sold according to government price, and also to make sure, there is no sharp practices, so we have to come out and go round to ensure the directives are followed.
Ogiowo, said, ” In edo state with Benin as example we went round to make sure there is enough fuel for the motorists.We have checked some independent marketers; we have also checked some major marketers.
According to him, “We have also verified and we are satisfied with the quality of fuel that is coming to Edo State, we have also checked on the major and independent outlets too, so we are satisfy.
However, we are not satisfied with the activities of some of the major outlets, because they are under dispensing fuel to motorists.
“So we have sealed up some of those stations that we have found under dispensing to the public.”
We also sealed those who were found to be selling above the approved price of#162 to #165 at about N175 per litre.
We started this operation on Monday the 15th of March, 2021.
The aim is to ensure that the quality of fuel being sold in Edo is of the real quality.
Also to ensure that haulding of the products is prevented, and to make sure there is no diversion of the products, safety of every motorist has to be ensured as well as the dispensing, according to the official price with the normal meters.
Engineer Ebi Ogiowo, said, “in the cause of going round some of the petrol stations were sealed up along Airport Road, the NNPC, NIPCO station, Otopect and Donason ,all along airport road were sealed up for under dispensing and selling above government pump price of N162-165.
Also Total at Akpakpava Road was sealed while O&G filling station at Upper Sakponba Road by Dumez Road was sealed for under dispensation.
Meanwhile, some of the motorists who spoke with our reporter thanked the effort of the DPR Benin office ,for ensuring that motorists in Edo State gets the best services from petrolleum dealers .End.
