Edo APC Primaries: Result Has Been Received, Accepted By National Headquarters; —Washington Osifo

A former Governorship Aspirant of the All Progressives Congress
(APC), Edo State, Washington Osifo on Tuesday said there is no going back on the Edo All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election results which saw the emergence of Dennis Idahosa, House of Representatives member (Ovia federal constituency).

Osifo said the Edo State APC Governorship primary election result has been received and accepted by the National Headquarters noting that it is a settled matter.

The former APC guber aspirant briefing newsmen in Benin City on the outcome of the primary election said, ” At the end of the election, the committee charged with the responsibility of organizing the election, led by the Chairman, HE, Hope Uzodima, Governor of IMO State announced Hon. Dennis Idahosa as the winner and flag bearer of the party in the forthcoming election.

“The argument about who has the responsibility to announce result is clearly myopic and casuistic. Only four years ago, the same Governor Hope Uzodima played exactly the same role in 2019, and no one raised any question.

“The National Headquarters of the party will not accept any result announced by anyone not designated to do so. Edo State APC Governorship primary election result has been received and accepted by the National Headquarters. It is a settled matter.” Osifo said.

Meanwhile, the State Vice Chairman, All Progressives Congress (APC) Edo South, Benson Edosomwan on Tuesday appeal to all members of the party across the 192 wards of the state to stay calm, saying the National Working Committee of the APC is working on the developments arising from the party’s primaries held last Saturday, 17th February 2024.

Speakin to newsmen in Benin city on the State of the Edo APC Primary election, Edosomwan said the APC in Edo State is committed to promoting democratic principles, transparency, and fairness in all its activities.

He called on the other aspirants who suffered defeat to embrace peace and work with the party’s governorship candidate, Dennis Idahosa adding that , “We also pledge to work with our candidate as a united family for the victory of our party and his success in the upcoming governorship elections.”

Also, the state working committee of the APC has resolved to veto the suspension and reinstated Francis Inegbeniki to his position as the vice chairman of APC , Edo Central Senatorial District.

The APC in a statement signed by
Peter Uwadiae Igbinigie , State Publicity Secretary made the disclosure to newsmen in Benin City, Edo state.

The statement reads in part,: “The suspension of the Vice chairman of Edo Central, Chief Francis Inegbineki was revisited and members agreed that having waited for the local government exco that was directed to invite him for interrogation and possibly for him to defend himself in line with the principles of justice and nothing was forthcoming from them, the SWC resolved to veto the suspension and reinstated Chief Francis Inegbeniki to his position as the vice chairman of APC , Edo Central Senatorial District.”Igbinigie said.
