Ebonyi LGSC chairman bags integrity award for ethical leadership, selfless service

The Chairman of the Ebonyi State Local Government Service Commission (LGSC), Chief Romanus Okemini Nwasum, has been honoured with the Integrity Stewardship Service Ambassador Award in recognition of his ethical leadership, commitment to public service and selfless contributions to humanity.
The award was presented on Wednesday at the headquarters of the Local Government Service Commission in Abakaliki by the Advocacy for Peace and Value Re-orientation, a non-governmental organisation dedicated to promoting ethical leadership, accountability and national values.
Presenting the award, the Director of the organisation, Mr. Abraham Abubakar Onyibo, said Chief Nwasum was selected following a comprehensive assessment of his personal integrity and administrative performance in office.
According to Onyibo, the LGSC chairman distinguished himself through ethical leadership, transparency, commitment to public service and effective implementation of policies that have enhanced the performance of the commission.
He noted that under Nwasum’s leadership, the Ebonyi State Local Government Service Commission had recorded remarkable achievements, which, according to him, placed it ahead of its counterparts in the South-East region.
Onyibo stressed that the award was not influenced by lobbying but was based solely on merit, citing Nwasum’s commitment to ethical governance, youth and women empowerment, community peace building, conflict resolution, staff welfare, and regular training and retraining of staff.
He explained that the Advocacy for Peace and Value Re-orientation comprises professionals and volunteers committed to promoting integrity, exposing corrupt practices and recognising individuals who demonstrate exemplary service through independent and confidential assessments.
Receiving the award, Chief Nwasum expressed gratitude to the organisation for the recognition, describing it as an encouragement to remain steadfast in promoting excellence and integrity in public service.
He dedicated the award to the hardworking staff of the Local Government Service Commission, acknowledging their commitment and support towards the commission’s achievements.
The LGSC chairman, who is also the National Secretary of the Association of Local Government Service Commissions of Nigeria, said the commission’s programmes and activities were in line with the People’s Charter of Needs policy of the Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru.
He reaffirmed his support and loyalty to the governor’s administration and pledged continued commitment to restoring the commission’s lost glory through improved service delivery and institutional reforms.
Nwasum further disclosed that the commission had organised a series of capacity-building programmes for its staff, noting that the initiatives had significantly enhanced their productivity and efficiency in the discharge of their duties.
In their good will messages, the commissioner 1 of the commission Architect Augustine Nwechara, the commissioner 2 Hon. Monday Nwigbo who congratulated Chief Nwasum on his well deserved award, commended him for his track records in the commission.
The duo described the chairman as a man of due process, integrity and impeccable character who have contributed meaningfully to the growth of the commission and welfare of the staff, while pledging to follow his foot steps to move the commission to the greater height.
Also in their good will message, the chairman conference of principals officers of local government service commission, Chief Moses Oshibe and administrative officer of Oshiri development centre in Onticha LGA Mr. Patrick Igwe extolled Chief Nwasum’s leadership style which has brought the commission to the limelight and thanked Advocacy for Peace and Value Re-orientation for the honorary award.
