Ebonyi LGSC Boss, Nwasum commends Gov Nwifuru for reviving local Government system

The chairman of Local Government service commission (LGSC) in Ebonyi State chief Romanus Nwasum has commended Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for reviving local government system in the State.
Chief Nwasum gave the commendation during three days workshop organized for principal officers of the four local Government Areas and Development Centres of Ebonyi Central zone held at the Commission’s head office in Abakaliki, the State capital.
Addressing the participants, the commission’s chairman applauded the workers for coming out in their large numbers and charged them to take the workshop seriously so as to achieve the set objectives.
While appreciating Governor Nwifuru for always ensuring the prompt payment of workers salary and other welfare packages in the State, Chief Nwasum urged workers to reciprocate the Governor’s kind gesture by being dedicated to their official duties in their own best interest while warning erring workers to desist from it or the commission would be forced to take decisive actions against them to serve as deterrent to others.
However, chief Nwasum charged the workers to be an agent of positive attitude and show professionalism in their dealings for the good of the society.
He added that the commission would continue to train and retrain the workers for effective and efficient service delivery and called for the worker’s total support and cooperation at all times.
The Commissioner one of the commission Arch. Augustine Nwechara who was full of gratitude to God for the successful three days workshop, commended the participants for availing themselves into the opportunity and charged them to put what they learnt from the workshop into practice to enhance optimal productivity in the local Government system in the State.
He also extolled the State Governor Chief Francis Nwifuru for given the commission the much needed conducive environment to thrive.
Earlier in his remarks, the Commissioner two of the commission who doubles as the chairman of event Hon. Monday Nwigbo said the training workshop became imperative so as to equip the workers with the requisite knowledge on the ideals of the local government system.
He commended the chairman of the commission Chief Romanus Nwasum for setting a standard that others would emulate from, describing him as a God fearing leader who always stand for the right things to be done.
He hailed Governor Nwifuru’s commitment and dedication to revamping the system while urging the workers to take their duties seriously.
In their separate speeches, the Commissioner three of the commission Barr. Oby Okoenyim, Commissioner five Barr. Kelvin Ituma as well as Commissoner four Hon. Ikechukwu Ogbu commended governor Nwifuru for his leadership ingenuity in the State and expressed hope that the training would boost the morale of the workers and increase professionalism in the system.
They enjoined the participants to embrace positive attitudinal approaches and work ethics in their areas of primary assignments and charged them to be disciplined, respect to their seniors as well as be their brothers keeper.
One of the resource persons and CEO of Okwey Delight Global limited Professor Joseph Nkwede who spoke on attitudinal change and work ethics, charged workers across local government areas and development centres to shun negative attitudes and unethical practices but embrace team work and maintain harmonious working relationship with their follow workers instead of castigation.
Professor Nkwede, the Bursar of Evangel University, described positive attitude as a Mirrow to solving a societal problem and as such helps in providing the basic need of the masses in the grassroots, while identifying quest for materialism as the major causes of negative work ethics and commended the commission for involving them in the transformation agenda.
He stressed the need for Ebonyi State Government to make regular payment of workers salary a point of duty and also solicited for reward system in the Local Government system, training and retraining of the workers to encourage productivity.
Other resource persons including Barr. Paul Nwodeh, Professor Anthony Itumo, Barr Emmanuel Onwe among others lectured the participants on the role of reengneering sound work attitude, impact of rule keeping on personnel performance, public service rules effective delivery in the local government system as well as public service and the fight against corruption in Nigeria.
Some of the participants including Boniface Mgbabu admin officer Ezza West DC, Fortuna Okeh HOD social welfare Ezza North Local Government Area, Nwuzor Nicholas HPRS Ezza South East DC among others appreciated the commission for the training and promised to take what they learnt back to home while assuring the commission of diligence, prudence, transparency and strict adherence to due process in the discharge of their official duties.
