Ebonyi: IFA kicks off 2024 super league

The 2024 Izzi football super league has been kicked off at Pa Ngele Oruta Township stadium in Abakaliki, the State capital with a call to the participants to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship.
The kick off ceremony drew the presence of sports lovers in the State including the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru among others…
In his remarks during the opening ceremony, the president of Izzi football association HRH Eze Bonniface Ezagu said that Izzi football league which started as far back as 2002 was aimed at harnessing talents among Izzi youths and to champion the unity and peace of the entire Izzi people while urging the participants to play according the rules of the association.
The IFA president applauded the State Governor Chief Francis Ogbonna for always supporting the football competition, saying that the grand finale of the football tournament would hold on 26th December, 2024
On his part, the former chairman of revenue mobilization, allocation and fiscal commission RMAFC Chief Elias Mbam commended IFA for organizing such wonderful competition and thanked the players for showing interest in sporting activities while urging them to continue promoting the unity and peace of Izzi people.
The kick off football league which was between Ekumenyi verses Izzi Development centres ended goalless.
Meanwhile, Governor Nwifuru donated undisclosed cash gift to the two teams at the end of the competition.
