In her efforts to ensure the safety and future of Women, and children in Ebonyi state, wife of the Ebonyi State Governor, Chief Mrs Mary-Maudline Ogbonna Nwifuru has reiterated her avowed commitment to continue to work with relevant agencies to end Child Trafficking and other forms of Child Abuse in the state.
Mrs Nwifuru disclosed this known during the visit of the NAPTIP team led by Mrs Offor Bertha, in her office, Centenary City, Abakaliki.
The First Lady said her commitment to stop the trafficking of women and children was borne out of the dangers faced by the trafficked children who are expose to different forms of danger after they are lured from their families.
She stated that more needs to be done to tackle this crime especially in the state as she will partner NAPTIP to put a final stop to the trafficking of women and children.
Earlier the leader of the team Mrs Offor Bertha while speaking appreciated the First lady of Ebonyi State for her passion and doggedness to eradicate the scourge of Human Trafficking and Gender Based Violence in Ebonyi State. She also assured Her Excellency of their unalloyed support in this quest.
She also pleaded for more Government intervention to attract foreign donor agencies that are ready to partner with them to end Human trafficking and Gender Based Violence. They appealed to be part of her sensitization tour in the state.
In a similar vein, the wife of the Governor also received members of izzi traders progressive union led by Mr Uguru Sunday where she assured them to articulate their problems to her husband for onward action.
However, the Governor’s wife who also received in audience the forum of 13 LGA vice chairmen led by Mrs Aduga Helen and wives of Ebonyi State House of Assembly members led by the wife of the State Assembly Speaker Mrs Florence Odunwa, Mrs Nwifuru urged the women to show solidarity and supports to their husbands so as to deliver on their assigned responsibilities.
Mrs Nwifuru who charged the women to join hands with her office to tackle the problem of child abuses and violence against women and girls in the State, assured to carry them along in the scheme of things.
Earlier in their separate remarks, the leader of Izzi traders progressive union Mr Uguru Sunday, the president of the 13 LGA female vice chairmen Hon Helen Aduga as well as Mrs Florence Odunwa who led wives of the State Assembly members said they were in the office of Her Excellency to congratulate her and her husband on their victory at the polls.
They further pledged to remain supportive to the policies and programmes of the State Government to achieve Governor Nwifuru’s charter of needs agenda.
