Hon. Stanley Okoro Emegha has been reelected as the chairman of the All Progressive Congress APC in Ebonyi State.

The party also re-elected Hon. Alphonsus Nwali and Chief Charles Chukwuma Ofoke as the State Secretary.

The trio were reelected alongside 33 other State working committee members at Pa-Ngele Oruta township Stadium Abakaliki, to pilot the affairs of the party in the State for the next four years.

The State working committee members were returned unopposed through arrangement in line with the constitution of the party.

The motion for the consensus arrangement was moved by the deputy chief whip of the Senate and senator representing Ebonyi North zone Barr. Onyekachi Nwebonyi and seconded by the Speaker of Ebonyi State House of Assembly Rt. Hon. Moses Ije Odunwa and was adopted by other APC faithfuls in the State.

Addressing the APC faithfuls, the State Governor Chief Francis Nwifuru congratulated the State working committee members and attributed the success of the congress to the peaceful disposition of Nigeria’s leader and national leader of the APC, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to him “I thank our father, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, for making this tremendous sacrifice,” he said.

The governor observed that President Tinubu was the reason the congress was not fraught with rage, rancour and political resentment.

“It is through him that we are enjoying peace and stability today. Without him, this event would not have been possible,” he added.

He explained that stakeholders of the party in the state approved the adoption of consensus candidates to eliminate rancour and strengthen the party.

“I commend the leaders of the party for accepting our decision to go by consensus candidates.

“They have made sacrifices, and God will give them what is greater than party executive positions. I am very happy for the peace, unity, honour, and stability we are enjoying in our great party.

“I wish to sincerely commend our Council Chairmen for their sacrifices and steadfast commitment to strengthening the APC in Ebonyi State. Their efforts, which began as far back as 2022, when they worked tirelessly to elect our party executives have continued to yield tremendous results for our party”

“In the 2023 general elections, only three members of the House of Representatives were elected under the APC. Today, I am proud to note that all six members now stand under the banner of our great party. Likewise, we have our three distinguished Senators firmly in the APC. In the State House of Assembly, we now have 24 out of 24 honourable members in our party. These milestones did not come without challenges and sacrifices. Truly, united we stand”

“Let me reiterate that we have not yet begun to showcase the full strength of our party. The time for that will come. For now, as a united people of Ebonyi State, we respect our leaders and all political stakeholders. Peace and order must remain our collective responsibility”

The Governor called on stakeholders, party leaders, youth leaders, women leaders, opinion leaders, and especially dedicated delegates who overwhelmingly endorsed the consensus leadership, to continue working together to build the progressive party under the newly re-elected chairmanship of Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha”

“To those who may feel aggrieved, I appeal for understanding and forgiveness. We value you deeply, and we are committed to inclusive leadership. By the grace of God, no sacrifice made for this party will go unrewarded.

“The APC is our party. Together, we will build it to greater heights and make it the party everyone desires to be part of” he concluded

The State Chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro-Emegha, in his acceptance speech on behalf of the 36 State Working Committee members, thanked the leader of the party in the state and Governor, Chief Francis Nwifuru, as well as other critical stakeholders for their confidence in the SWC members.

He promised to rally his colleagues to advance, project and protect the interests of the governor, leaders and members of the party in the state.

Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee and former Speaker of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Mrs Rita Maduagwu, said the consensus arrangement complied with the constitution of the party and APC guidelines for the congress.

She hailed Nwifuru’s efforts to ensuring unity and progress of the party in the State.

In an interview, the former minister of State for power Chief Goddy Ogbaga congratulated the State working committee of the party on their successful reelection and urged them to work together and also carry everybody along for the progress of the party.

The chairman of Abakaliki Local Government Area Hon. Stephen Ebere Nwogba enjoined the party executives to reach out to the grassroots and bring everybody together so that 2027 general elections would be a walk over.
