Between 2015 and 2018, I was a student of microbiology in the faculty of natural and applied sciences, Kogi State University where Dr Usman Ogbo was a lecturer in the Department of Political Science.
Our paths crossed when I started my contest to lead the students of Kogi state university as president of the student union government. Every student at the time knows that Dr Ogbo was a man whose interest was to make sure that the students were well represented by competent individuals across boards. He saw the qualities in me and trusted my capacity to represent the interest of the students. He took me as a friend, and stood by me, dishing out pieces of advice and intellectual support every time I was in need.
I’ve in the time past, had lucid romances with academic lecturers from different facets of this country. I didn’t just meet them but stylishly studied their temperaments and that gives me an edge in knowing how they majorly operate. Getting to meet Dr Usman Ogbo no doubt positively altered the literature I archived in that regard. His dealings and human relations acumen validate in a colossal manner the saying that ‘we should never judge a book by its cover.’
Nothing irritates him like ineptitude and nothing he detests like indiscipline, hence the rugged and dogged posture he floats during his academic voyage at Kogi State University, Anyigba.
Facts about his developmental strides are already submerging this space, his passion to see young and intelligent men like me off the streets is being aggressively unearthed, hence the need to recount his fierce contribution to the Man I’m becoming today.
No documentary about my academic volition at Kogi State University will be completed without referring to the current Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic. In me, he saw greatness and dared to mine what he felt was in huge deposit.
It is neither because I’m the most qualified nor am I the only qualified but today I’m a lecturer at the prestigious Kogi State Polytechnic because of his act of benevolence.
Dr Usman Ogbo discovered me at Kogi State University and gave my life every meaning one can desire.
Dr Usman Ogbo is a man of vision, competence and excellence. His visionary sense of leadership is evident in all the viable projects he initiated and completed as a Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic (Go and verify).
I have no iota of doubt that Dr Usman Ogbo can serve Kogi State in any capacity. He is excellently qualified and competent.
