Don Solicit Reopening Of Institute of Continuing Education In Edo

A Professor of Economics at the Ambrose Alli University, AAU, Ekpoma, Dr. Francis Ilenloa Igberaese has called on the Edo state government to urgently revisit the re- opening of the Institute of Continuing Education Centres ,ICE, in the state as to enable workers or those that may want to continue or rectify their education the opportunity to further their studies.
Dr Igberaese, also appealed to the state government to consider the offering of automatic appointment to PhD holders in the state, instead of holding on to the old professors who are Seventy years and above.
Dr. Francis Igberase, author of the book, “EMATON”, Stated this at the launching of the book, EMATON, on Saturday at the Madonna Hall, St Paul Catholic church in Benin City.
Igberaese explained that the funds required to employ fresh Ph.D graduates already exist within the university system since the Edo State Government continues to fund its tertiary institutions.
“I passionately appeal to the executive governor of Edo State Senator Monday Okpebholo to give automatic job offersl to all Ph.D holders in Edo State.
“There are not even many, the money to do that is already there, monies are being misplaced. For example why would a professor who has spent 70 years and retired be earning from the system and retained, while those who hold Ph.D are outside without a job.
“The money to pay one of these professors can pay three Ph.Ds, and by the way, these professors do not come to work, with a special apology to some of them. And the new brains are energetic and they work, please let us absolve them”, he appealed.
According to him, the motive for establishing the ICE by the Ogbemudia regime was to enable those workers or individuals who could not leave their work or do not have the resources to continue full education to have a place to continue their education.
Igberase who is a lecturer at the department of Economics, Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, AAU , appealed to the governor to write his name in gold by implementing these suggestions.
In his welcome address, the chairman of the occasion, Chief Dan Ose Orbih, appreciates the author of the book for taking time to write the book EMATON.
Orbih said, the book EMATON which was built around the Obaseki era during the election said it details the hard period which the people have to go through.
According to him, “Obaseki built everything around his laptop and ruled the people with an iron hand”.
He called on former governor Godwin Obaseki to come back home and give account of his stewardship.
“Today I am here, but Obaseki is far away from here , let him come back home and give an account of his stewardship.
“I pray to every one of you here today that God will never allow you to encounter Obaseki in your life”, he said.
Reviewing the book “EMATON”, Professor Harry Imhonde described the 25-chapter work as a must-read, especially for those interested in leadership and governance, noting that it explores how personal interests can destroy political structures.
He explained that “EMATON” means one who strikes hard, one who cannot be bent, and one who remains solid like iron.
Prof. Imhonde said the book serves as a metaphor for political resistance and highlights the cost of governance driven by intimidation, ethnicity, and fear rather than service to the people.
