Dedication and Hard Work Are the Key to Nation Building, Says Engr. Sagir

The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works, Engr. Abdulsalam Mohammed Sagir, stated this in his office on Thursday while representing the Commissioner, Hon. Engr. Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf, during a departmental meeting.

Engr. Sagir emphasised that dedication and hard work are priorities and rewards for a productive society. He urged the departmental heads to instill discipline among their staff to achieve success and to work together as a team, noting that it is a collective effort to ensure the Ministry of Works stands out. He added that no one should be found wanting in discharging duties and that all staff must meet their responsibilities with utmost seriousness, as their efforts contribute to the development of the Ministry and the State.

He also pointed out that all heads of departments must be role models for their staff and worthy of emulation to inspire greater professionalism and productivity. While every department faces its challenges, he said, those should not hinder performance because the work must go on. The welfare of staff, he affirmed, remains the Ministry’s top priority.

Responding on behalf of all directors, the Director of the Electrical Department, Engr. Abbas Ibrahim, said they would discharge their duties to the best of their abilities despite the challenges. He expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for providing an enabling environment and the freedom to express themselves while performing their duties. He also appreciated Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the prompt payment of salaries to state workers, which has improved performance and productivity in Kogi State and the country at large.

The highlight of the meeting was the introduction of the new Director of Administration, Hajiya Lami Raliat Idakwoji, to the minister.
