As the Country prepares for the 2023 general election, the need to reduce corruption by educating and mobilizing citizens, groups, political parties amongst others towards strengthening citizens voice for anticorruption and demand accountability has been advocated.
The Executive Director, Conscience for Human Rights and Conflict Resolution (CHRCR), Comr. Idris Miliki made the disclosure at a One Day Capacity Building for Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in partnership with Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC),
on Chartered of Demands on Prioritizing Anti-Corruption and Accountability issues during the upcoming 2023 elections at State Level, held in Lokoja.
The Executive Director said the time to promote reforms and institutionalization of anticorruption messages ahead the forthcoming 2023 election should start now.
Comr. Miliki said spreading anti corruption messages, accountability, and ensuring that political candidates articulate stance and plans towards tackling corruption should begin to agitate the minds of the people towards ensuring corrupt free and accountable leaders in 2023.
Comr. Miliki said the time for Civil Society Organization’s and the media to begin and to put in place strong advocacy and messaging that would ensure that citizens demand for leaders that are corrupt free and there anti corruption stance if elected.
The Executive Director opined that one major issue affecting the nation in all sphares of its Socio Economic life lies in corruption and the absence of accountability and transparency, urged for charter of demand from citizens for their leaders.
