By joshua Cross River governor, Bassey Otu, Orders Immediate Repairs on Failed Sections of Calabar–Odukpani Road
Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has ordered the immediate repair of failed sections of the Calabar–Odukpani Road after carrying out an inspection of the affected portions of the road.
Otu, one of the top performing governors in the country doing everything possible to alleviate the suffering of Cross Riverians and make life better for them, described the condition of the road as a major concern, and directed the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Mr Pius Edet, to mobilise to the site devoid of any delay to begin repair work.
The People-First Governor reaffirmed his determination to provide quality infrastructure that will bring about total improvement in the lives of Cross Riverians, while giving the assurance that spirited effort was being made to deliver safer and more reliable road networks across Cross River.
In a post on his Facebook page, upon conclusion of the inspection, the governor stated:
“Today, I undertook another round of inspection across the Calabar corridor, with particular attention to the failed sections of the Calabar/Odukpani Road.
“Seeing the condition of these critical stretches further reinforces our resolve to ensure that our people can move safely and conveniently.
“I have directed the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure to immediately mobilize to the affected locations and commence remedial interventions to restore these failed portions as an urgent priority.
“While these emergency repairs will provide immediate relief to commuters and residents, we are equally committed to developing and implementing a more durable, resilient, and sustainable engineering solution that addresses the underlying causes of the recurring failures.
“Our administration remains steadfast in its commitment to building infrastructure that not only meets today’s needs but also serves future generations.
“Every road we restore, every challenge we confront, and every project we undertake is guided by one objective, improving the quality of life for the people of Cross River State.
“We appreciate the patience, understanding, and cooperation of our citizens as we work tirelessly to deliver lasting infrastructure that reflects the aspirations of our dear state.”
Besides the Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Barrister Ekpenyong Akiba, Special Adviser to the Governor on General Duties and a prominent voice in the Otu administration, was among those who accompanied the governor on the inspection.
