… Says BN Ceramics reputed to operate best labour policies as regard welfare, good working environment workers.
The Management of BN Ceramics Industry Nigeria Limited Ajaokuta have appealed to the Kogi State Commissioner of Police to use his good office to come to their rescue and safe guard the Multi Billion Naira investment in the State.
The call by BN Ceramics to guard and protect the Industry was contained in a letter following the threat by an NGO, Pan African United Youths Development Network to cause mayhem to the factory.
According to the letter titled: Unlawful Invasion of The Premises of BN Ceramics Industry Nigeria Limited, dated 5th of January, 2021, signed by Zhang Xin, for Managing Director of BN Ceramics, accused the Pan African United Youths Development Network of forcible entry into the company’s factory on the 20th of January, 2021 at about 2:00pm.
The letter to the Police Commissioner said upon their forcible entrance into the premises, members of the Pan African United Youths Development Network demanded for the sum of N10 million from the company.
The Management of BN Ceramics in the letter to the Police Commissioner, said following the siege of the factory by members of the Pan African United Youths Development Network, who were accompanied by armed soldiers, policemen and pressmen, they had no other option than to release the sum of N2million to the NGO as ransom for the workers to regain captivity in the factory.
During the siege on the Industry, the management in the letter notes that the company’s business was paralyzed for hours as entrance into and out of the factory for customers was restricted, with customers disallowed from carrying out their legitimate businesses.
The Letter to the Commissioner also states that the Pan African United Youths Development Network demanded that 10% of the monthly earnings of the company be remitted to them and also demanded should buy 10 number of 18 seater bus their use.
The Management of BN Ceramics said in the light of the forgoing activities of the Pan African United Youths Development Network which looks criminal in nature, having taken over the constitutional responsibilities of some Government agencies without such powers and approval, described their actions as an embarrassment.
The Management of BN Ceramics in the letter therefore called on the Commissioner of Police to look into the invasion, Particularly that the Pan African United Youths Development Network said they are acting for and are from the Presidency.
In another developement, the Management of BN Ceramics Industry Nigeria Limited has described the story planted by the African Youth Development Network in some section of the media as unfortunate, unfounded and an effort to tarnish the hard earned reputation of the Industry Built over the years.
The Management of BN Ceramics Industry stated this while reacting to the call by the Pan African United Youths Development Network that President Muhammadu Buhari and the Minister of labour and employment should look into the alleged slavery and injustice meted on Nigerian youths by BN ceramics Nigeria Limited.
The BN Ceramics Industry described the allegations as an after thought and a face saving device following the criminal and forceful invasion by the NGO into the premises of the factory, said it is on record that over the years the BN Ceramics has been reputed to operate the best labour policies as regards welfare and in providing good working environment for its workers.
The BN Ceramics notes that while it prides itself as an employer of labour, with youths constituting majority of its workforce, boost of having salary packages and allowances that has been a motivator to job seekers and employees, described the working environment in BN Ceramics as friendly and conducive.
While pointing out that the BN Ceramics has maintained and religiously kept all labour laws as applicable to the factory Act 2004 of the federal republic of Nigeria in relation to health, safety, hazard and precautionary measures, assured that it would continue to make the health and safety of workers Paramount.
The management of BN Ceramics described as devilish the allegations of prolonged working hours and casualisation of workers and working without appointment letters, said without mincing words, BN Ceramics Limited has lived above board in meeting the yearning and aspirations of its workers through issuing appointment letters to workers and making workers work only within the stipulated time frames.
The Management of BN Ceramics added that work in the Organization officially closes by 5:00pm everyday said overtime period is optionally for those interested, added that work during public holidays which is also optional, attract twice the amount paid for overtime.
The Management of BN Ceramics urged members of the public to therefore disregard the unfounded allegations by Pan African United Youths Development Network, even as it says it looks forward to the Kogi State Commissioner of Police bringing to book those who forcefully invaded the Factory with criminal intent and further disrupted
