The Management of AEDC in Kogi State has promised to credit the value of the amount to the three thousand two hundred customers that were wrongly billed in Lokoja for the month of November, 2022.

The Regional Manager, Danladi Baba, gave the hint on Monday in Lokoja while fielding questions from some Journalists over the recent outrageous bills being served to customers in some parts of Lokoja the State Capital.
The Regional Manager who took responsibility for the mixed up attributed it to the error in their data gathering, stressed that the 3200 affected customers who were hitherto on the 11KVA were placed on the 33kva feeder .
He noted that the affected customers instead of being billed the normal #13,000 were wrongly billed #17000, .
He explained that after the receipt of complaints, he directed the area managers of the affected places to sort out the difference to enable them make adjustment in order to credit the value being added to the bills.
While regretting the mix up in the bills to the affected customers, said the rest customers, however got their bills accordingly.
He disclosed that on assumption of office in Kogi, there was an issue with generation which has dropped due to the weather situation, which made allocation to the state to drop a little.
He said despite the drop of energy to the State, there is an increase in consumption, which forced the management to reduce marginally hours of supply.
He added that the consumption pattern has increased, may be due to the stability of supply, as consumers have resorted to using high energy consuming appliances.
According to him the energy supplied now for three hours is higher than 5-7 hours in the past, saying many customers are now using high energy consuming appliances.
” What we give for 5-7 hours in the past cannot be compared to 2-3 hours we give presently. People are complaining of over billing, not knowing that it was as a result of their consumption.
” The Bills we distributed so far is friendly, because we have taken cognisance of customers using 11kva feeders while their supply is under load shedding, while also considering those that are on 33kva feeder that uses light for 24 hours.
” We have feeder 1,2,3 that extends to areas like Kpata and all those transformers on low feeders are on 24 hours supply, while we have six number 11kva feeders within the town. 1-4 under kpata 7.5kva at Lokongoma, Ganaja, and Otokiti Housing Estate are load shedded because of inadequate Energy being supplied to Lokoja.
” So, what we did in our billing, we gave those on 11kva N12800 per month, and there are those that are on one day on one day off because of institutional load shedding.
” However, due to our error, they were over billed. We are prepared to credit their account with the difference.” He assured.
While commending the affected customers for their understanding, urged them to get their prepaid meters to avoid any unforseen infractions.
Recall that some customers have complained bitterly of jerking their bills from #12800 to #17000.
