All is now ready for the coronation of HRH. Oba Abiodun Japhet Ohuneniese as the Olukoyi of Ikoyi in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State on 28th Saturday August 2021.
The epoch making event which will also feature the Launching of #250 million Town Hall Project will take place at Saint Joseph Primary School Field at 10am.
A statement by the National President, Ikoyi Development Association, Dr. Olusegun Ijagbemi named His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, Executive Governor of Kogi State as Chief Guest of Honour with a seasoned Philanthropist, Otunba APS Arogundade as Chairman of the Occasion.
According to the statement, the Senator representing Kogi West at the National Assembly, Senator Smart Adeyemi is the Distinguished Guest while the Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Alhaji Taofiq Isa is the Special Guest of Honour.
The Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom, His Majesty, Oba Williams Olusegun Ayeni is the Royal Father of the Day with Dr. Olusegun Ijagbemi as the Chief Host.

Oba Abiodun Japhet Ohuneniese has a deep root and he is well-grounded in Ikoyi Ijumu, the community that he is today been coronated as its traditional ruler. He was born in Ikoyi in 1981 to the family of Chief Paul Adegoke Ohuneniese (the Alada of Ikoyi) and Madam Ruth Toludun Ohuneniese. His childhood was spent in Ikoyi where he had his early education. He attended St. Joseph Primary School where he earned his Primary School Leaving Certificate in the class of 1993. From there, he attended Ikoyi Community High School and graduated with his Senior School Certificate in 1999. Upon the completion of his secondary education, he left the community for personal growth and further education. In 2004, he enrolled at the River State University of Education, Port Harcourt. Four years later, Oba Abiodun Ohuneniese graduated from this university with a Bachelor of Education degree in Geography.
His experience in education went beyond being a student in the classroom. Oba Ohueniese also had a brief stint as a classroom teacher at Omuo-Oke Grammar School from 2011 to 2012.
The work experience of Oba Ohuneniese also extended into the private sector before and after his university education. Between 2001 and 2004, he worked as a design technician at an engineering firm that serviced drilling tools used by the major oil and gas companies in the petroleum-rich River State. These tools are also used in the drilling of boreholes. In 2009, he joined ETCO Engineering Nig. Ltd in Abuja as an electrician’s mate. In this position, he was responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and management of electrical and electronic equipment. Between 2012 and 2014, Oba Ohuneniese worked as a project coordinator at a building construction company, Fildgod Fieldwork Design and Decoration Nig. Ltd, in Bayelsa.
As if the young and energetic Abiodun knew of what destiny had in store for him, he relocated back to Ikoyi in 2012 to engage in community organizing. His efforts at mobilizing his people for political engagement eventually led to his unsuccessful bid for the Iffe/Ikoyi/Oke-Ijumu Ward Councillorship in Ijumu LGA in 2013. The failure of this campaign did not end Oba Ohunenise’s participation in grassroot mobilization and community organizing. In 2015, he became the coordinator for Iffe/Ikoyi/Oke-Ijumu Ward. He occupied this position until 2019 when he answered the call of his Odo-Ikoyi clan and the Ikoyi community to be the next Olukoyi of Ikoyi. For the past two years, he has served as the rallying point for the community and piloted the affairs of his domain with integrity. During this time, he has also showed what would be his hands-on approach to solving the problems of the community. For example, last year, he used his experience in the design, fabrication, and servicing of drilling tools and the construction industry to lead the technical team that rehabilitated some of the boreholes in the community at minimal cost. Oba Ohuneniese is loved and respected by both the young and the old in the community.
Oba Abiodun Ohuneniese is married to Olori Happiness Etikudo. Their union is blessed with three children – Nathaniel Oluwadamilola, Christable Esther Bosede, and Miracle Oluwadarasimi.
