COMMUNIQUÉ ISSUED AFTER THE INAUGURAL EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEETING OF KOGI STATE SHIPPERS’ ASSOCIATION HELD ON FEBRUARY 27,2021.


 

 

The inaugural EXCO meeting which was presided over by the President of the Association, Comrade Rajan Suleiman, reviewed the present socio-economic conditions of the state and came up with ideas that would stimulate the state economy, as well as enhancing import and export businesses. They EXCO in session carefully deliberated amongst other issues of interest and finally resolved as follows;

1. The Executive Committee of the Association commended the effort, encouragement and the tenacity of conviction demonstrated by the KOGI State Area office of the Council, under the headship of Mr Edwin Ignatius, the Lokoja Area Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council to enable the association to fulfil its goals and objectives for which it was set up.The support the association received from the Nigerian Shippers’ Council when the election of the newly elected EXCO members was validated and inaugurated on February 13, 2021, is highly commendable.

2. The meeting resolved to embark on public enlightenment and membership mobilisation drive through the instrumentality of the media as means of changing the narrative of the association.

3 The EXCO considered the list of Commodity Associations existing in the state and felt the irrevocable need to invite them into the association to enable it consolidate on formidable front to achieve economic prosperity in the state.

4 The list of Service Committees was considered and the EXCO members agree to put machinery in place to ensure that they come on stream to take import and export businesses to higher pedestal. For avoidance of doubt, the Service Committees will, among others include; Finance Committee, Insurance Brokers,Taxation & Commercial Law, Research & Development, Science & Technology, Steel & Allied Vacation, Art, Crafts &Textiles, Specialized Publication, Membership Mobilisation, Women in Agric & Women in Business Committees.

5. With the support and cooperation of the Niferian Shippers’ Council, the EXCO resolved to work hard to remove all obstacles confronting import and export businesses as well as helping members to cultivate greater value for their investments.

6. The EXCO expressed its readiness to assist exporter of agricultural produce to enable them to add value to their goods as means of making them to attain competitive prices in international market, boosting Nigeria’s Non-Oil Export as well as creating employment locally.
