COMMUNIQUE ISSUED AFTER THE IJUMU DEVELOPMENT UNION (IDU) MID-YEAR CONFERENCE HELD IN AIYEGUNLE GBEDE on 23rd October, 2021.


 

1. The President of the host community Aiyegunle Gbede, Comrd. Ahmed-Ade Fatai appealed to IDU to help the community to be upgraded in to her rightful position by Kogi state government as the community was not considered in the recent exercise of grading and upgrading. The president further requested for government assistance to boost the self help projects been carried out by Aiyegunle Gbede community in the areas of renovation of schools, road, water projects e.t.c.

2. The IDU President highlighted the action plan of his regime for the development of Ijumu Kingdom which include security arrangements, assistance to youths, Education, scholarship and completion of IDU secretariat and other areas of human development.

3. The meeting acknowledged and takes cognizance of the fact that it is the absolute and exclusive prerogative of the state governor to approve the grading and upgrading of any traditional stool.

4. The meeting also appreciated Kogi state government for the upgrading of:
Olu of Ekinrin Adde
Olu of Aiyetoro
Olugbede to first class status and Olu of Odokoro Gbede graded to third class status

5. The meeting emphasized on the various complaints/dissatisfaction of omission by some communities. The IDU was charged to apply wisdom and approach the relevant state government apparatus/some stakeholders to help on the matter.

6. The meeting agreed that Executives of IDU should as a matter of urgency meet with HRM the Olujumu of Ijumu, and the Ijumu stakeholders on the distorted arrangement of the grading/upgrading of traditional stool.

7. All Ijumu communities Obas not graded or upgraded should be included in the IDU petition to the Kogi State relevant apparatus for consideration as indicated in 5 above.

8. On installation of Olu of Aiyegunle Gbede, the community Exco should prepare a memo and to meet with the following:
The Executive Chairman – Hon. Taufiq Isa
The Olujumu of Ijumu – HRM Oba Williams Ayeni
The Hon. Commissioner – Hon. Omofaye
House of Assembly member –Hon. Kelani

9. The security outfits of Ijumu to be inaugurated as follows:
27th October, 2021 Ijumu Oke Axis
28th October, 2021 Ijumu Arin Axis
29th-30th October, 2021 Gbede Axis

10. The house condemned the non-challant attitudes of Ijumu political office holders to meetings, growth and development of Ijumu.

11. The security outfits of the IDU stationed to be on alert at the black spots of Okoro Gbede/Ayeh Gbede road and liaising with the community presidents as done by Ijumu Oke axis.

12. The meeting appealed for the establishment of banks in Ijumu for economic development.

13. Deliberations were equally held on other critical and some burning issues confronting the peace in Ijumuland and other matters relating to good health facilities, road network among others.
