Climate Change: CSDevNet To Hold ‘Keep Your Promise Campaign’ in Lokoja October 25

Ahead of COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan, Climate and Sustainable Development Network (CSDevNet) has concluded plans to hold an advocacy/campaign around the flooded areas in Ganaja, Lokoja Kogi State, calling on world leaders to take climate action.
CSDevNet is a coalition of over 300 organizations committed to promoting climate-friendly and equitable sustainable development across Nigeria.
A statement signed by Mr Steve Abuh Monday, the National Network Coordinator of CSDevNet, and made available to Journalists on Thursday, said the campaign, tagged: “Keep Your Promise Campaign – Road to COP29”, will hold on October 25, 2024, around flooded area in Ganaja, Lokoja, Kogi State, Nigeria.
“This campaign is a pivotal event aimed at raising awareness and calling for accountability on global climate commitments, especially as we approach COP29 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
“The Keep Your Promise Campaign was launched to address the pressing need for climate justice, focusing on holding global leaders accountable for their climate pledges.
“As Kogi State continues to bear the brunt of devastating floods caused by climate change, it is imperative to highlight the disproportionate impact on Africa, despite the continent’s minimal contribution to global emissions.
“This event will serve as a platform to voice the concerns of vulnerable communities and advocate for the urgent fulfillment of climate finance promises,” Steve said.
According to him, the event will feature an awareness march, community interviews, and press conferences to amplify the voices of flood-affected communities and call for decisive climate action at COP29.
He, therefore called on the general public to ensure massive participation that would greatly contribute to the success of the campaign “as we work together to demand climate justice for Africa.
“We look forward to your positive response and your valuable contribution to this crucial cause.
Thank you for standing with us in the fight for climate justice”.
