CHIP launches “COOL GIRLS” mobile App in Kogi State.


The Center for Integrated Health Programs (CHIP), has officially launched the “COOL GIRLS” mobile App in Kogi State.

 

The objective of the CG program aims at reducing HIV infection rates, prevent it’s transmission among Adolescent Girls and Young Women (AGYW) and also to provide treatment support for users who are already HIV seropositive.

 

Part of the objective is to ensure that messaging on sexual and reproductive health issues, HIV prevention measures, mental health well being, one by one mentoring and services referrals will be targeted at the AGYW. The program represents a safe space where the AGYW learn, network and catch fun.

On the AGYW platform, there will be live charts on diverse topics with questionnaires and answers provided. Other features include direct messaging where members can reach out to mentors for counseling and clarifications. Also, peers can be networked, survey and questions to sampled of the AGYW can be navigated, with a backend where administrators can check and verify activities of the App users.

 

Stakeholders from the State Ministry of Health, Women Affairs and Social Development, Education, FIDA, SACA graced the occasion.

 

A team of seasoned care givers: Odebunmi Temipeju of CIHP Country Office, Abuja; Aisha Sule – a Gender Integration Associate from Lagos office, Inyama Lawrencia – STL Kogi office, Modey Justina- Linkages/Treatment Support Senior Associate, Lokoja office as well as Fortune Tamuno, a Gender Integration and Mainstreaming Assistant were all on ground to officiate the Kogi “COOL GIRLS” App launch.

A physical hangout with the girls was held, with about a hundred in attendance. At the occasion, 89 of them verified the App.
