Bunu Will Not Be Silent: As Kidnappers Terrorize Our People and Shatter Our Peace, We Demand Immediate Protection. Our Lives Matter, Our Land Deserves Peace!
The people of Bunu land in Kogi State have endured more than enough. For too long, we have watched in fear as peace continues to slip through our fingers, replaced by terror, anxiety, and sorrow. Our once-thriving communities known for their warmth, industry, and resilience now bear the scars of sustained attacks by kidnappers and violent criminals.
The most recent victim of this appalling trend is Major Joe Ajayi (Rtd.), a respected retired officer of the Nigerian Army, whose abduction has sent shockwaves across our land. He is not the first, and sadly, he may not be the last unless immediate and decisive action is taken.
Our patience has run dry. The people of Bunu will no longer remain silent while our lives are cheapened, our safety ignored, and our future stolen. We cry out to both the federal and state governments: our land is under siege and our people are dying in silence.
Every day in Bunu land now begins with fear and ends in uncertainty. Families are torn apart by the dread of abduction. Entire villages are emptying as residents flee for safety. Farmers have abandoned their fields, unable to tend the land that has fed us for generations. Our local economy, once supported by agriculture, trade, and peaceful living, is now collapsing under the weight of insecurity.
It is an unimaginable tragedy that in a sovereign nation, communities like ours must beg for the fundamental right to life and safety. We demand that the Nigerian government, both at the federal and Kogi State levels, recognize the suffering of Bunu land and act swiftly. We call for the deployment of security forces to patrol and protect our towns and villages. We need coordinated surveillance, community policing, and urgent intelligence operations to dismantle these criminal networks before more lives are lost.
Major Joe Ajayi served this nation with honor. To see him fall victim to the very menace he once stood against is a painful symbol of our current reality. If a retired army major can be snatched without consequence, what hope do ordinary citizens have?
Our message is clear: Enough is enough.
We will not keep quiet while our people are hunted. We will not stand by while our farmlands are overrun, our roads made impassable by fear, and our children raised in terror. Our lives matter. Our land deserves peace.
Let it be known: Bunu will not be silent. Not now. Not ever.
