Buhari Lokoja Assumes Office as Kogi APC Youth Leader, Pledges Unity, Innovation

The newly elected Kogi State Youth Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Buhari Lokoja, has pledged to promote unity, innovation and inclusive participation among young members of the party across the state.
In a statement issued shortly after his emergence, Buhari described his election as a collective victory for APC youths in the 21 local government areas of Kogi State, noting that it underscores the party’s commitment to generational inclusion and grassroots development.
He expressed appreciation to the Governor of Kogi State and leader of the APC in the state, Ahmed Usman Ododo, for what he described as visionary leadership and consistent support for youth development within the party structure.
“The confidence reposed in the youth by His Excellency and the party leadership is deeply valued. I assure the Governor and the entire leadership of our party that we will justify this trust through loyalty, dedication and results-driven engagement,” he stated.
Buhari also commended members of the State Working Committee, party elders, stakeholders, and leaders at ward and local government levels for their support, describing the process that led to his election as a reflection of unity and internal democracy within the APC.
He stressed that unity would remain the cornerstone of his leadership, urging youth groups and party members to close ranks in the overall interest of the party.
“Our strength lies in our unity. Political differences are natural, but division must never define us. We must build bridges, strengthen communication and reinforce loyalty to the party at all levels,” he said.
Outlining his agenda, the youth leader pledged to introduce innovative programmes to deepen youth engagement. According to him, plans are underway to establish a digital mobilisation platform to enhance communication across wards and local government areas, roll out leadership and political education initiatives, foster entrepreneurship and skills development partnerships, and create a Youth Advisory Forum to ensure structured engagement with party leadership.
He called on party leaders and stakeholders to continue mentoring the youth wing, assuring them of loyalty and constructive collaboration.
Buhari further urged youths across the state to shun violence and misinformation, and instead embrace responsible political participation and service.
“The youth wing under my leadership will serve as a platform for growth, inclusion and purposeful engagement. Together, we will consolidate the gains of our great party and strengthen its grassroots presence across Kogi State,” he added.
He reaffirmed his commitment to transparency, accessibility and collective progress, while praying for the continued success of the APC in Kogi State and the country at large.
