For many communities in Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State, daily life is shaped by socioeconomic hardship and limited access to basic amenities. It is against this backdrop that Halima Sadia Hassan Yakubu has stepped forward with a mission rooted in compassion—launching the Mohakeem Hearts Foundation, a humanitarian initiative dedicated to restoring hope and dignity to the less privileged.

The foundation was formally unveiled on the sidelines of the 7th Ankpa Cultural Day Celebration, held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at the Ankpa Township Stadium. Amid the colour, music, and cultural pride that marked the event, Halima, the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, shared a vision driven by empathy and a deep concern for her community.

According to her, the Mohakeem Hearts Foundation was born out of a desire to build a society where compassion becomes a way of life and where vulnerable groups are not left behind. She explained that the foundation is committed to ensuring that the indigent have access to basic necessities—food, clothing, and clean drinking water—needs that many still struggle to meet.
Beyond immediate relief, the foundation is setting its sights on long-term impact. Healthcare delivery and community wellness form a major pillar of its intervention plans, with the aim of improving overall quality of life. In the education sector, special attention will be given to indigent children at the primary school level, with the provision of textbooks and exercise books to support their learning and keep them in school.

Halima also highlighted the importance of community development, noting that the foundation plans to embark on service projects such as the installation of solar-powered streetlights in communities without electricity. These initiatives, she said, are not only about infrastructure but about safety, inclusion, and social progress.

In addition, community outreach programmes will be rolled out to inspire well-meaning individuals and groups to embrace humanitarian service and contribute to uplifting the less privileged within their communities.

At the heart of the Mohakeem Hearts Foundation, Halima emphasized, is a simple but powerful commitment: to give hope to the hopeless, touch lives through kindness, and improve living conditions through genuine acts of charity. She added that the foundation remains open to collaborations and partnerships that will strengthen its humanitarian reach—not only in Ankpa Local Government Area, but across Kogi State and Nigeria as a whole.
