BREAKING: ODOLU WARD APC EXECUTIVES, LEADERS AND STAKEHOLDERS UNANIMOUSLY RATIFY FORMER COUNCILLOR’S RESIGNATION, MOVE TO NOMINATE REPLACEMENT, REAFFIRM LOYALTY TO ODODO AND ZACCHAEUS DARE MICHAEL

ODOLU, KOGI STATE – NOVEMBER 1, 2026

The All Progressives Congress (APC) family in Odolu Ward, Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, has unanimously accepted and ratified the resignation of its former councillor, Hon. Comfort Obaromi, following her decision to relinquish the mandate shortly after her inauguration for a second term in office. The resolution was reached at an Extraordinary Executive Committee (EXCO) meeting held on Sunday, November 1, 2026, in Kabba, Kogi State, attended by party executives, leaders and critical stakeholders of the ward.
In a strong expression of displeasure, the Odolu Ward APC leadership described the circumstances surrounding the resignation as regrettable, particularly the absence of prior consultation with the party structure, its leadership, stakeholders and the people of Odolu Ward before such a significant decision was taken. The party leadership maintained that a decision of this magnitude, carrying direct implications for the political representation of the ward, ought to have been preceded by meaningful engagement with the political family and the electorate whose mandate was involved. The ward leadership further expressed disappointment over what it described as a continuation of a pattern of disconnect between the former councillor and the people she was elected to represent.
The meeting upheld that, throughout the two years of her first tenure, there was no known meeting convened by the former councillor to engage with party members, ward executives, stakeholders or the wider Odolu community on matters concerning their representation and collective interests. The leadership recalled that these concerns formed a significant part of the resistance to her re-election bid by sections of the Odolu APC family and constituents, particularly party executives, before the intervention of the Kabba/Bunu Local Government leadership facilitated the eventual political resolution.
While formally ratifying the resignation, the Odolu Ward APC leadership stressed that the development would not distract the party from its collective responsibilities, organisational stability and commitment to the progressive ideals of the APC. Beyond the resolution on the resignation, the Extraordinary EXCO meeting provided an opportunity for the ward leadership to reaffirm its unalloyed loyalty, confidence and commitment to the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo and the Kabba/Bunu Local Government leadership under the Executive Chairman, Hon. Zacchaeus Dare Michael.
The party executives, leaders and stakeholders acknowledged the importance of sustained unity, cooperation and effective grassroots mobilisation in advancing the interests of the APC and promoting development across the local government. The ward leadership also proudly recalled its contribution to the party’s electoral performance, noting that Odolu Ward recorded the highest number of votes in the last election. It reaffirmed its determination to consolidate on that record through stronger grassroots engagement, party unity and greater participation in subsequent elections.
The Odolu Ward remains firmly committed to the APC family, the leadership of the party at ward, local government and state levels, and the progressive administration of Governor Ododo. The ward leadership therefore called on party members, supporters and stakeholders to remain united, disciplined and focused on the common goal of strengthening the party and advancing the interests of the people.
In a further resolution, the leadership of Odolu Ward APC announced that it would, in no distant time, formally submit its nomination to the APC leadership at the Kabba/Bunu Local Government level for the replacement of the former councillor. The proposed nomination is intended to produce a suitable party candidate who will represent the good people of Odolu Ward in the Kabba/Bunu Legislative Council and uphold the responsibility of representing their collective interests. The ward leadership emphasised that the process would be pursued through the appropriate party structures, after which the relevant government authorities and electoral body are expected to undertake the necessary constitutional and legal procedures to give effect to the replacement of the mandate holder representing Odolu Ward.
Odolu Ward deserve effective representation, and that the vacancy arising from the resignation should be addressed without unnecessary delay, in accordance with applicable laws and established electoral procedures. The leadership further affirmed its readiness to cooperate with the APC leadership at the local government and state levels, as well as the relevant authorities, to ensure an orderly and lawful transition that protects the political interests and representation of the people.
