Borno State Governor, FCT Minister of State, Kogi Poly Rector, Publisher Nigerianpost Newspaper, Others Make List of AREWA TRUST NEWSPAPER 2019/2020 AWARD

WHY AREWA TRUST NEWSPAPER IS AWARDING MEN/WOMEN OF HONOUR

Honour in whatever form it comes, signifies respect, hard work, integrity, dignity, love, recognition and service to humanity. It is the tradition of the African society and indeed any part of the world to recognize and honour any person (s) that has impeccably distinguished him/her self in any field of endeavours in the society. Honour is also for any one whose contributions have really touched the life and well beings of many others in a society. Such honour and recognition come in various ways. Some people are recognized through conferment of chieftancy title on them because of the good the persons have done to their community.

The honour might equally be a presentation of certificates, souvenirs and trophies to the deserving persons. We have local, national and international honours that are conferred on people of repute. We also have academic honours such as honorary degrees, both of letters and of causers.

In contradistinction however, people with bad attitude that make life miserable for others not to grow are despised, shunned and even hated by the society.

Likewise, achievement is not measured in how many cars or houses one owns. Rather, for any body to be regarded as an achiever in life, the person’s positive contributions to the development of his society should be well spelt out.

Man is enjoined to make use of his fortune, in whatever form, for the good of the society he finds himself. But this good aspect of the human endeavours is hard to come by, particularly in our contemporary society. However, despite the societal convulsion threatening the survival of the present society, one can still boast of men, great men and women, as few as they are; who stand tall in the society. Men who write their names in kindness and mercy in the heart of thousands they come in contact with can nevertheless be forgotten. The names and the good deeds of such men will always shine as stars of heaven.

It is against this background that Arewa Trust Newspaper, a Kano based tabloid introduced awards in 2017 to honour and encourage good people in the society to do more and for others to emulate too.

In 2017/2018, ten good personalities were honoured with award as Arewa Trust Newspaper men/women of the year. In 2018/2019, twenty three personalities and an organisation were also given the award. The investiture took place on 30th November 2019 in Kano.
