The Senate on Tuesday passed a bill to establish the orthopedic hospital in Dekina, Kogi state.
The bill was sponsored by senator Isah jibrin Echocho representing Kogi East senatorial district. Senator Isah jibrin got Senate’s approval for the establishment of the federal health institution in Kogi state followed the consideration of the report presented by the chairman, Senate committee on health, senator Yahaya Oloriegbe. Oloriegbe, in his presentation observed that, Nigeria is one of the densely populated countries in the world which is plagued with poverty and exceedingly high burden of disease. He emphasized that, the establishment of orthopedics such as musculos skeletal disorders, spine corde disease, cancers tumors and congenital defects are suffered by many citizens without adequate care. He explained that orthopedic hospitals are highly important in improving health care delivery in patients, adding that, locating one in Dekina, Kogi state would bring health care closer to residents of densely populated urban and rural communities.
It could be recalled that, orthopedic hospital bill is among several other bills sponsored by senator Isah jibrin Echocho while others are at various committee stages awaiting Senate’s approval.
