In a bid to promote academic excellence in schools, a legal luminary, Barrister Bola Fabola has offered to pay next term school fees of four pupils of Kesty Academy, Lokoja.
Barrister Fabola gave the offer at the graduation ceremony of the school, located behind first two hundred Housing Estate, Lokoja on Thursday.
As Chairman of the occasion, Barrister Bola Fabola said the measure was to encourage academic excellence, noting that the four pupils perfomed wonderfully in the debate which formed part of the programme.
The Chairman explained that education was everybody’s business and commended the proprietor, Chief Hon Eric Fiki and the management for a good job.
Earlier in his speech, Honourable Eric Fiki highlighted his vision for the school which is to raise responsible leaders for tommorow.
Honourable Fiki expressed appreciation to the government for creating an enabling environment as shown through the approval for the school, assuring that efforts will not be spared at achieving set objectives.
In his speech, Chairman of the Parents Teachers Association, PTA, Comrade Samuel Atuluku noted that qualitative education demanded the attention of both teachers and parents.
Comrade Atuluku thanked the proprietor and management staff for doing a good job and promised that the PTA would continue to collaborate with management to move the school to enviable position.
The PTA Chairman also called on the Federal Government to as a matter of necessity, do all within its reach to re negotiate with ASUU to enable students return to schools.
According to Comrade Atuluku, there was great danger allowing such prolonged strike in the University system, especially when considering the current spate of crimes and criminality.
Others in their Goodwill messages praised the school authority for ensuring quality teaching and learning and called for sustained efforts.
Highlight of the event were presentation of gifts and certificates, cultural display and cutting of cake among others, while dignitaries from far and near attended the occasion.
