Barr. Bamidele Suru, has tasked women Lawyers to strive to acquire Legislative drafting skills, described the skills as as “stressless” and suitable for women who balance family and professional responsibilities.

Barr. Bamidele Suru, made the disclosure
at the just concluded 2025 Workshop On Legislative Drafting for women Lawyers held in Lokoja at the weekend.

The workshop with the theme: Legislative Drafting A Dependable Skill For Women In Legal Profession was organized by the
NIGERIA BAR ASSOCIATION WOMEN FORUM KOGI STATE CHAPTER with the MODULE, LEGISLATIVE DRAFTING AND TECHNIQUE FOR UNIFORM DRAFTING STYLE.

Legislative and Legal Drafting Consult Equity, disclosed that
Legislative drafting for women have several advantages for women, particularly in promoting their rights and interests.

Barr. Suru disclosed that the advantages of legislative drafting for women include promoting gender equality, protecting women’s rights, and increasing representation in decision-making positions.

He said the workshop aimed to enhance women’s skills in legislative drafting, was organized by the Nigeria Bar Association Women Forum, Kogi State Chapter.

He listed the benefits of Legislative Drafting for Women to include:
– Promotes gender equality and equal opportunities
– Safeguards women’s rights and protects against violence and discrimination
– Caters to women’s unique needs, such as reproductive health and maternity leave
– Increases women’s representation in decision-making positions

By acquiring legislative drafting skills, women lawyers Barr. Suru explained can contribute to creating more inclusive and equitable laws that benefit women and society as a whole.
