In her unreserved dedicated manner, the Africa Youth Growth Foundation (AYGF) has just concluded its commodity distribution and supportive supervision visits to 10 LGAs in 111 wards in Kogi state and 13 in 138 communities in Niger State.
The Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria (ANRiN) is a World Bank-funded project committed to increasing quality, cost-effective nutrition services for pregnant and lactating women, adolescent girls, and children under five years of age.
Also the program aims at enhancing knowledge of MICYN in high malnutrition burden states in Nigeria, with AYGFs focus in Kogi state in 10 LGAs, Omala, Ofu, Olamaboro, Ibaji, Idah, Dekina, Bassa, Ofu, Ankpa, and Ajaokuta, in 111 wards and Niger state in 13 LGAs namely Mokwa, Bida, Gbako, Lavun, Lapai, Agaie, Edati, Chanchaga, Bosso, Gurara, Tafa, Suleja, and Katcha in 138 wards with 1000 community health workers and community volunteers.
The high points of the three-week-long activities, which commenced on the 8th – 24th of June across the 111 wards and 138 wards where the Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria ( ANRiN) project is being implemented, include;
Supply quality, cost-effective nutrition services for pregnant and lactating women, adolescent girls, and children under five years of age, enhancing knowledge of Maternal Infant and Young Child Nutrition (MICYN) in the One hundred and eleven (111) wards.
Formal engagement and training of the 1000 community volunteers and health workers in each LGAs.
Monitoring and providing support to the community volunteers on using the current 2.4 version of the ANRiN app and distributing life-saving BPNS commodities, namely vitamin A, iron-folic acid, Zinc/Ors, SP Fansidar, Micronutrient powder, Albendazole (deworming) across the 10 and 13 LGAs.
The benefiting communities who have taken ownership of the project expressed joy over the continuous supplies of these commodities and thanked AYGF for implementing a quality program to end malnutrition, malaria, and congenital disabilities in Kogi and Niger states.
