The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has approved the appointment of Prof. Monday Igbafen as the new Co-ordinator for Benin Zone.
In the letter of appointment by the national chairman Prof. national Emmanuel Osodoke, he said that Pro. Igbafen’s appointment was due to his commitment and unwavering support to the cause of the union.
Comrade Igbafen, the immediate Past Chairperson of the local chapter of the union at the Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma takes over from Comrade Fred Esumeh who successfully served out two tenures as zonal coordinator of the Benin Zone of the union.
As a zonal coordinator, Comrade Igbafen is to coordinate the activities of the union in the seven universities which comprises the University of Benin (UNIBEN); Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma; and Adekunle Ajasin University (AAU), Akungba-Akoko, Ondo State.
Other schools in the zone are Federal University of Petroleum and Resources (FUPRE), Effurun, Delta State; University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor; Delta State University (DELSU), Abraka; and Olusegun Agagu University of Science and Technology (OAUSTECH), Okitipupa, Ondo State.
Comrade Igbafen, of the Department of Philosophy is expected to bear his vast experience in union activism in his new assignment, having served in various committees at the national level of the union.
The new zonal coordinator has also served as Secretary, Vice Chairperson and Chairperson of the ASUU, AAU, Ekpoma Chapter amongst others.
